Which video editor do you use?

I have all exclusive content shot in HD for a really niche website. I would say it's a step over amateur videos and it could be made into good stuff if worked a bit.

I'm really new to video editing and I'm considering buying Movie Studio Vegas Platinum 12. To try it a bit and at least familiarize myself with the possibilities of such tools.

Do you have suggestions on video editing software for a beginner? Which one do you use?

I was thinking about buying Movie Studio Vegas Platinum 12.

I've been using Vegas for years, and I love it. I know it's not Final Cut, but you can get almost anything done with it, and it's not expensive either.

A video editor is a person. Video editing software would include Adobe Premiere Pro and others.

I use premiere pro cs6 and after effects cs6

Taught myself how to use them by reading, so if I can do it anybody can.

Sony Vegas here as well.

Depends on what you want in the long run, how much time do you want spend learning the software and how advanced editing do you want to do.

I find Sony Vegas very user friendly (especially for new users) and perfect for basic editing.
Most of the FHG cutting and tube clips I do in the Sony Vegas.

But while you can do almost everything in Sony Vegas, for advanced editing such as trailer cutting, color correction, title animation etc... I suggest Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro. Those take a while to learn and master but you won't look back once you do.

Before anything I suggest you to check out the video editing basics tutorials, there are a lot of them around.

You also can't go wrong with Premiere, and if you want to spend 49 bucks a month, you can subscribe to Adobe Creative Cloud and get access to all of their software.

I only do After Effects at 19 bucks, so you could probably do Premiere at that price also.

This is really good advice right here. Also, if you haven't already, take advantage of trial software. Don't start the trials until you've checked out a few tutorials for the specific software that you want to try. As mentioned above, if you just need the basics go with Vegas, if you need more than Vegas can offer go with Adobe.

final cut pro

Cherry7 01-11-2014 12:42 PM

To edit a sequence it has to shot to be edited.

I have not seen any porn that has been shot to be edited (other than what we do).

You need and assembler

DWB 01-11-2014 12:42 PM

Yes, single applications are $19.99/month for CC and you have 30 days to try it out for free.

Camtashia from Tech Smith. But I only make instructional videos for Dating Factory.

Ferus 01-11-2014 03:33 PM

I use Vegas pro. You need the pro version for batch rendering.

It took them a while to get gpu accelerating to work, but it rips through HD now

And you need to grease up your ego and shove it where the sun don't shine.

Damn if you don't get more and more annoying with each passing day.

Since Sony Vegas was mentioned several times and it seems like a nice product with several good tutorials available I'll start with it.

I'll download a trial when I'll be ready to edit several videos which require different corrections and see how it goes.

I use FCP X. I read somewhere that you can edit videos using Photoshop but never tried it.

Check out Lynda.com for some good video editing tutorials.
