If the corporations behind this agreement get their way, the world will change overnight, and it will not be for the better.

BFT3K 01-09-2014 01:41 PM

Food and Pharmaceutical Monopolization - Seed and Cell Ownership - Massive Internet Restrictions - Lower Labor Pay - Less US Manufacturing (as if that is even possible) - Long Term Patents - CORPORATE CONTROL OF GOVERNMENTS - This trade agreement is being decided in secret, and by the heads of the world's largest corporations. People need to know more about this.

People say I only bash Republicans, but this is another case where I am bashing them all, including Obama.

More like center-right corporate shill. Remember, in 2008, Obama's biggest donors were the Too Big To Fail banks. Isn't it interesting that there were no prosecutions in the wake of the biggest financial fraud ever? But yeah, he's some radical "leftist" :1orglaugh:disgust

TPP is seriously bad news.

not necessarily.. if it's as bad as it is made out to be, could be one of those 'straws' we're so desperately needing

Not sure what you mean by 'straws'

Interesting.

Corporations (via their shills in the USTR office) are basically negotiating & writing the framework, and legislators aren't even allowed to look at it? This does not pass the smell test.

well yes, but far more accurate to say his big money benefactors. presidents are little more than business agents.

Actually, they weren't.

His biggest donors were tech companies (Microsoft, Google, IBM) and Universities (Harvard, Stanford, etc).

beg to differ, though instead of saying TBTF banks, I should have said "wall st" in general. http://www.opensecrets.org/pres08/in...&cid=N00009638

See "Sector Totals"

Lawyers & Lobbyists $47,722,009 (of course, lawyers & lobbyists can represent any industry)
Finance, Insurance & Real Estate $43,744,789
Communications/Electronics $29,055,271

Looking at "Top Industries"
1 Lawyers/Law Firms $46,988,063 (of course, lawyers & lobbyists can represent any industry)
3 Education $25,418,843

4 Securities & Investment $16,580,277
13 Misc Finance $7,038,619
18 Commercial Banks $3,421,453
Just my opinion, but I think it's fair to combine these 3, and that would total $27 mil.

and..
10 Computers/Internet $9,744,738

So I guess it depends on how you want to slice up the numbers. The big wild card is the nearly $50mil donated by lawyers/lobbyists as that is impossibly vague.

Bill Moyers on why the Trans-Pacific Partnership free trade agreement is death for democracy

http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hY9U38vKXl.../Coffin_Lg.jpg

from the piece...

It?s not really hard to understand TPP though, once you see the pattern ? TPP puts the ruling class (and the corporations they control) in charge of most aspects of our economic and regulatory life. It rewrites the laws of every nation that signs it, all to increase the wealth of our pathological betters. We just need more people saying that.

Trans-Pacific Partnership

Trans-Pacific Partnership - Undermining Food Safety

since the same shit is going on between the US and Europe:

rest assured the rest of the world is much more concerned about US food than you should be the other way round

Monsanto, corn syrup, chlorine chicken and all kinds of other chemical shit that is so far not allowed over here and that we would prefer to keep it that way. :winkwink:

The "media" will not provide any "truth" in this story, and so far, doesn't even seem interested in covering it at all - even though it is one of the most important issues happening right now, with ramifications that could be both domestic, as well as globally, devastating.
