Don't spend any just yet. Do this:

First, figure out exactly what you want to do, and then identify as many markets for it as you can.

For example: Let's say you know a cute blonde 19 year old model and she has agreed to shoot for you. There are several ways you can make money such as

- Build a "solo model" retail website for her
- Build a second website for you that will contain her content and future content you will shoot, also for retail customers.
- Wholesale her content to other sites. You can sell exclusive or non exclusive licenses to use her content.
- Consider selling her content to an existing program who specializes in that type of model.

Etc..

..but before you do this, you should take the guesswork out. Anyone can build a website, but promoting it can be expensive and it is easy to make mistakes. You can easily lose your $40k if you jump in without doing your research first. Keep your $40k in the bank until you know what you want to do.

Honestly, I would look to invest in something outside of porn.:2 cents:

If I were hell bent on porn, I would start a few sites and keep the cost under $2,000, and then I would watch for a few months to see how traffic and sales were coming along.

If things were going well, I'd put some cash into advertising. If things weren't, I'd keep the cash and worry about how to fix the traffic and sales issue. If your sites initial traffic isn't converting, something is wrong and needs to be fixed before you blow cash on ad traffic. The problem could be the whole site or network. Scrapping it and starting another is an option so long as you've not dumped so much cash into it you've got no choice.

But all the while, I would be looking outside of porn for a different market. Face it, porn is mostly free now and surfers know it. Surfers also don't spend money on you because they feel sympathy for the cash you've spent. Surfers don't give a fuck. They want to get off and that's it.

Even if you manage to come up with something amazing that no one else has, your gains will be short term. Eventually anything you come up with will end up on a free site, and at that point your gains are pretty much gone.

I would highly recommend against busting my load into porn all at once. Unless you are the luckiest human on the planet, it's probably a mistake.

Adult has a way of putting blinders on people. There are tons of other markets out there just waiting for someone to come up with the right idea and take them over, or to find the perfect niche and exploit it.

All of this of course, is just my opinion.

yeah i have no real interest in getting back into the game because it has changed so much I just wanted to see what you guys would come up with. Nothing is a better ROI than real estate right now and that's where my guns are.

Its true if you can make money in the this business without money which I did and made tons of having money do change things but the times are different and I know free sites and at the time billing companies help kill this industry hell a few went under and took some of my money.

I would continue to build out my traffic network.

Try making $ in adult without spending the 40k then, when you start making a buck or two, use the 40k to 'ramp up' whatever it is you're doing.

Well, if you are buying traffic/ads etc from a place like Plug Rush then your business model is differant than mine. LOL You could certainly build 100 sites but what I'm talking about is taking the plunge and becoming....cue dramatic music here....a Program Owner! Yes, become a Sponser, start your own affiliate program, paysites, etc etc. Getting the content is the tricky part but if we're talking about 40k then I would actually spend about 5k getting as much (quantity over quality, trust me now) content as possible. I'm talking thousands of pics and hundreds of vids, even if you have to buy older SD content (better anyway).

THEN you create your network of paysites. Start with one, then another, then another, also building your affiliate program. If you don't know design then spend (max) another 5k on very simple designs. That leaves you 30k, but let's see where all this content and paysite building gets you first....

Then it's the same: traffic (and affiliates). You need them both so go get 'em. LOL For those playing the 'buy traffic-send it to Sponsers' game I can't help you because I, as the Sponser, am the 'end destination' for where affs send their traffic. :)

EDIT: Sorry, that's for someone with 40k. LOL For someone with $0 to spend on content (or design) then you must:

Trade your sweat for content and split profits with whoever owns the content
Learn design yourself.

I had a buddy do that, turned out bad

Cash business, Laundromat, vending machines, etc...

I'd buy a domain name for $12 and build a website for around 200 and put the rest in a bank account.
