Car experts . . . what is this? (pic)
|
That is a car.
I'm pretty sure about that. I think. |
dodge prowler or something.. but ya sarettah is right it's a car
|
plymouth prowler, lensman had one
|

Never get wasted and go car shopping.

no need to be an expert for that :)
|
Yup plymouth's sorry attempt at a hotrod. They got the look right, once you take the ugly gov mandated plastic bumpers off, but it's underpowered with a v6.

very nice to drive ...:thumbsup |
It's a crap car. It's a Plymouth.
|
Damn they are expensive, over 10 years old and cost +-30.000 buckets. Probably worst way to spend that much on a car.
How much did they go for brand new? |
I guess no one remembers Lensman and the fact that he had a yellow one after he made his first few bucks and kept making super douchey movies of it and posting them online.
|
looks to be an improperly parked car. :winkwink:
|
for the same money you could have a real hot rod built.

Top 10 Worst
I just searched, but there must be 100 lists for the worst 10 cars. But just the other day I saw a list of the worst 10 cars sold in the U.S. and Prowler was on the list. Article said it was way under powered.
I couldn't find the list, but I could find a list of the 50 worst cars and it's #43 http://content.time.com/time/special...658536,00.html |
looks like chick car.

Yeah, I love mine. Got it brand new in 2002 (last year made).
They are built by hand. Only around 11,000 of them ever made. It's true it has a V6 engine, but it hauls ass. The car is aluminum and weighs next to nothing. I've had mine at 150mph before and it felt like it was going to lift up off the ground! I actually outran my ex-biz partner's Viper redlight to redlight (though if we had went much further the Viper would have eaten me alive) All in all it's a great car to drive and gets more attention and smiles than any other vehicle I ever owned. |
Looks like car :pimp
|
Yes, a Prowler(Chrysler), I remember it had quite an impact when it first came out. Good design.
|
I like it's appearance, they're very rare in Europe, saw one zigzag on a boulevard between several small euro-hatchbacks and looked amazing..
people on a budget can go the volksrod route, vw bug + saw + a set of nice wheels :) check the volksrod gallery here, the red one looks like a prowler wannabee, and I love the black vintage looking one with white sidewalls on page2. |

A Viper has a 0-60 time in the 3-4 second range. If you beat your friend in a Viper light to light... He wasn't trying too hard. |
It'd be OK if you're a hairdresser.
|
nowadays people who think a v6 is under powered are really old school slap 2 turbos forged rods lower compression pistons performance camshaft and tune the hell out of it and you get a v8 killer in no time :)

nowadays you have 4 cylinder biturbo, 2 ltr and easily 200-300hp with no extra tuning in just regular cars like BMW, Mercedes, Audi etc with half of the gas consumption compared to a V8 they just dont work for people with small penis syndrom |

the f-type jag sounds unfuckingbelievable with the v-6, the new caddy v6 twin turbo is cranking out 440hp and 430 pound/feet of torques.
f1 had a great run with v6s back in the 80s and will be returning to them as well. |

People who think other people are impressed with cars have small dicks. I'm not impressed by a $100k sports car that does 0-60 in less than five seconds; Subaru makes fast cars too. You want to impress someone, buy a bigger house. |

it's totally pointless to discuss whether a car does 3, 4 or 5 secs from 0-60 in a country where you can't go faster than 65 anyways
but when i say that i do 150 mph on a german autobahn, everyone starts screaming that i put others in danger |

but thats oldschool because mud doesn't like electronics now if i were going to do street i will probably sup up a 4cyl or a v6 and definately a 3 rotor engine :) before i do the other 2 |

The Prowler featured a powertrain lifted from Chrysler's LH-cars, a 3.5 L Chrysler SOHC V6 engine 24v producing 214 hp (160 kW; 217 PS) at 5850 rpm. For the 1999 model year the engine was replaced with a more powerful, aluminum block, 253 hp (189 kW; 257 PS) at 6400 rpm version of the engine. 214 HP and 253 HP is pretty decent and nowadays to set those engines to 300 or 350 hp is not too hard :) but hey let he who has the car enjoy if you do not have the car well... |
that is a 14 year old car
|
Thanks, the photog said it was a Plymouth but did not know the type.
|
Too bad the prowler didn't have a small block V8 in it, damn it would have really kicked ass then

A guy that worked with me in Vancouver had a yellow one back about 2001. I drove it a few times. We also had a viper.... I'd say the 5.7 secs quoted for the prowler is a tad...ummm.....optimistic.LOL plus at speed it feels like it floats at the front end, no feel at all. Viper would destroy it LOL...like embarrassingly so lol It was a headturner....but really all show no go. |
http://auto.howstuffworks.com/classi...th-prowler.htm
"""Horsepower was 214 for 1997 models and 253 for later versions. Prowlers were quick, with the higher-output cars running from 0-60 mph in about 7 seconds.""" I would say that's about right. and imho 7 secs to 60 is not that quick... |

I took those off. And had that removed. :) Also did a few things (exhaust and intake and computer chip manipulation). So yeah...I went 150 in it. (The U.S. is the only place that was done...guys with Canadian Prowlers bought their Prowlers with no speed throttle and always were able to do 150). And if you notice what I said...I said my Prowler beat the Viper REDLIGHT TO REDLIGHT. It was basically a city block. I also specifically said that if we had went any further it would have eaten me up. When I said it "hauls ass", that's what I meant. Not that it's a fucking race car! LOL! It's quick off the line and feels great driving. The engine is light, the car is light, it's weight distribution is great. The problem with real speed is that it's not aerodynamic at all. But it's not designed for that anyway. I know some guys with Paxton superchargers and some with nitrous on their Prowlers too. But I think that's just being crazy because as I said the car isn't aerodynamic and isn't made for street racing. It's just a lot of fun. For instance: I had a 2007 corvette (sold it a couple of years ago). I could do 150 mph in that and not feel a thing. When I did 150 in my Prowler? It was scary as shit! lol I also had a 1973 MG Midget that had a tiny little 1275 cc motor in it. BUT... I put a 1.75" SU Carb, a hot electronic ignition, headers, and a supercharger on it. I got that little beast up real fast. I don't know how fast because the speedometer stopped at 120. I'm guessing I was doing around 125 mph. And THAT was definitely "hauling ass". lol It was exciting and you could feel every bit of the road in that little car sitting a couple of inches off the ground. That's the kind of thing I was talking about when I said the Prowler "hauls ass". Trust me, it feels plenty fast when you want to go fast...and it always is fun to drive. |
