Stopping a spammer using your e-mail address

Anyone have ideas to do this best?

I have a spammer using one of my domains to spam AOL massively today. I've already contacted his sponsor, his hosting company, his network provider, and AOL security. No action yet from anyone.

He's hiding behind layers of bogus stuff, but I got through it all except who he is actually is so far.

sit back & ride it out.....you won't have any issues if you have a good relationship with your host

We have our own servers outside the US. This happened though on one of my hosted servers in the US. I called them right away and gave them the all the details. I've been with them for years so they are fine. I just want to nail this little prick and fuck him up and was looking for some creative ideas to do so.

Had it happen 2 me once, I had my ISP bounce every thing that got sent with a return address of that domain. I was lucky in, I didn't use that one. I was getting 1,000's of bounced emails per day. If I was getting that many bounced one's NO telling how many email spams they were sending out. I also let my ISP now right away. God that really pissed me off, if I could have found'em, no telling what I would have done.

My ISP said they would bounce it all, but its on one of my original domains that I use extensively for business e-mail correspondance.

This seems VERY familiar to my thread: http://www.gofuckyourself.com/showth...hreadid=112957

Hit me up on ICQ, I'd like to see if we're dealing with the same spammer. I wonder if this guy was targetting TCG affiliates or something?

Chasing spammers can be fun....

Last week I grabbed some big files from a dumb spammer that left some stuff open.
Got tons of info from people that are interested in getting a mortgage.
All the info you need to know.
Maybe I could sell the info. :)

Don't think its TCG related. Its one of my mainstream domains. He's promoting a $29.95 software package for Web-Detective.com.

Same spammer... he hit my wired2000.com domain which is where all my mainstream clients go too. And let me guess, he's trying to mask his domain by redirecting through Yahoo->Lycos->Arcadepages which uses a frame to goto his real domain right?

I'd love to know how to stop this guy as well, but there really isn't much we can do...

As I said in the other thread, this shit happens quite often. You'll never catch them unless they are stupid. Even if you do catch them, what are you going to do? Sue them in a court in some third world country? Not likely.

happens to us all of the time as well

Is he using your formmail or just your domain as a return address? If it's the formmail just delete it. That or make a fake formmail script and just collect addresses :thumbsup

That doesn't surprise me man. When all these fuckers get off their ass and start standing up to spammers - we can start to get the spamming problems under control. Until then - we have little to no recourse.

SPAMMERS SUCK!

Shit, just did some more digging and talked with the owner of the software this spammer is selling and he's not even affiliated with them.

He must be either planning on just grabbing the money and running or is collecting CC cards and info.

Or so they say... often times they play the "it's not me" card to try and get out of it. With shady spammers like this, its hard to tell who's the innocent party and who's the spammer...

Gotcha, so it could be the software guy with a bunch of aliases.
Hmmm, that's a possibility for sure. Easy to deny and cover that way.

Manga1 03-04-2003 08:54 PM

Happened to me too. If you find the guy just get these guys to pay him a visit. :winkwink:

If you ran an affiliate program, wouldn't you (just never admit it publicly). It wouldn't surprise me if affiliate programs setup accounts and pre-pay spammers to do just this only to terminate those accounts (which have been pre-paid). It's all too easy to spam these days...
