The best part about Christmas is...

My family is all fucking broke, so Christmas is very lame. We pick names out of a hat, and you have to buy that family member a gift "under $100". Fucking lame. My wife got me a new Kindle (which I've been holding off buying for the past six months), and the person who picked me got me a few DVDs.

The best part about Christmas is coming home and ordering all of the shit you didn't get for Christmas.

On Christmas night I started ordering all of the shit I wanted but didn't get, and most of it will be here Monday. Sweet.

DerKramer 12-28-2013 10:48 AM

Yeah, have fun!

Naw, I have to go with the food - especially when we go and visit relatives (like, this year)...rather than have to do the hosting (like, last year).

That sounds kinda cool actually...! Our family always goes overboard for christmas and spends way too much money. Afterwards we always have credit card regret and promise ourselves to cut back next year.

Then again, I am usually good to myself and go shopping for a few things just for me. I've decided that I want to learn to play guitar and plan to go shopping for one this week as well as a few extra sound-gadgets, but all within a tight budget. Merry Christmas to me!

baddog 12-28-2013 01:11 PM

So, Christmas is all about the presents to you? I got over that shit by the time I was 9.

My firstborn daughter saved xmas for me [born on 25th]. this is totally not about the presents, which in the end i pay for [i dont want my wife to work 9to5].. its about the time/effort they sacrifice. fixing something i love and what is broke for years makes me 1000 times more happy than if anyone buys me presents which i can buy any day of the year. also, my kids draw (well) and i am very happy for their usually personal drawings which i put on the wall behind me in my office to make my day even better :pimp
as an atheist, not a huge fun of the whole xmas thing, but having a family changed this 100% and i believe i am on the peaceful/right path now.

You are a loser who got dishonorably discharged from the Marines for being a flaming homosexual. Go fuck yourself.

gabe100 12-28-2013 03:11 PM

Good to see you spending $. Shows you're getting paid. Unlike all the shooters you basically called fucking liars in an earlier thread.

So all that work you did on multiple levels... proof that CCBILL pays!

seeandsee 12-28-2013 03:25 PM

Why born of Jesus is related to buying gifts?

jmcb420 12-28-2013 04:16 PM

The best part about Christmas is... today. Because it's officially passed and I no longer have to consciously partake in a tradition that I disagree with and despise on many levels. Although I love my family, I find every other aspect of the season to be mentally draining.

I have a 60th birthday party to deal with tomorrow and then it's my birthday on the 2nd Jan...

It is so inconsiderate for parents to have kids at this time of year.....

Oh Christmas is for the kids, always has been, always will. Once your kid no longer believes in Santa, it's just totally lame.

I had to go back and re-read that thread you are bringing up here. I read the first post, which was one photographer who I had never heard of claiming he didn't get paid by a company with a good reputation. I didn't say "all shooters are fucking liars". Nor did I read any of the other complaints in that thread.

Why the hate old man?

Not at all. My problem is I have to make lists of things I would "like" so my family can buy me stuff for Christmas. All of these items have to be small things, under $40. So for the four months before Christmas I don't buy myself stuff I normally wouldn't think twice about. In the end, I put off buying small stuff for four months - a DVD, a mouse for my laptop - and in the end didn't get them so I need to go out and buy them all at once.

Just kind of pointless.

dyna mo 12-28-2013 09:56 PM

didn't you complain about this last year also?

and you know you can admit being wrong and out of line in sinclair's thread, right?

LaetiTia 12-28-2013 10:48 PM

Christmas is for kids, my kids still prepare milk and cookies and i still have to eat it at night, spread leaves and branches around the house plus mark reindeer prints on the floor! But seeing kids faces in the morning made all the efforts worth it.

No hate, just when it comes to gifts I don't want anything I would feel comfortable having someone buy me (like they would anyhow); I know my son has a chocolate vanilla porter on bourbon stout that he brewed, I am looking forward to that.

Same here, i really like getting gifts for people.
I don't want a gift from anyone.
I like the idea of a special beer someone made though. Or maybe a special meal to share.

IT means more then a gift made in china.

I bought presents for everyone over here in Korea. They don't really celebrate it. I was Santa this year :)

I spend half of the holidays explaining that I don't care that people didn't match my presents - I'm just just happy you loved it...

Agreed; and when I shop I like to do it at the last minute. This was the first year goodgirl was healthy so it was the first time she could ever go with me. She never knew starting at 5 PM on Christmas Eve could be so much fun.

But first you have to prep . . .

That's just it. I don't want anything either. If I want something, I go freaking buy it. But for the last four months on the year I have to put these things on a list and I can't buy it.

I held off buying me a new Kindle for six months so my wife can buy it.

The best part is when family and friends get together for Christmas dinner, followed by the beer and cider tasting that occurs afterwards.......good times!

The whole point of Christmas #1:
Get together with your loved ones.
#2 Share old photos and laugh about the past.
#3 Give 1 gift to the loved one that needs it the most..

The best part was actually the fact I did not had to celebrate with all the unpleasant relatives of my wife. We were just me , wife and the kids. The kids got a lot of toys, wifey got some bag, new photocamera, clothes, clothes and some more clothes/dress and stuff like that/. We drunk some great wine, ate cool food. We put the kids to sleep and then we had sex - and it was awesome. I was so excited that she allowed me to put it up her butt - at the end I was very happy to receive my present: pare of socks, and a sweater. I drew all night and made a lot of updates on my site.

Right now I'm with the sweater. It's cool blue sweater ( to be honest it's lame, but I love it).

Happy Holidays! :-)
