Which movie to go and see?

Out of the furnace or Saving mr banks?

Opinions on both please if you have already seen either? :helpme

Sorry, did The Hobbit today, which I can recommend AGAINST seeing the first 2 hours of, just check out the last 30 minutes.

AaronM 12-26-2013 07:40 PM

Watched Out of the Furnace a few days ago. It was OK but the ending was kinda lame and it was far from Woody's better roles. :2 cents:

I did a hobbit once.

How come Wolf of Wall Street is not on your list. That was a good movie. I would pick Out of the Furnace between those two.

Thanks.

I saw the trailers for it and wasn't all that impressed with either of them to be fair.

Seems like a money grab for them both.

Pretty sure The Wolf is the next one I will be going to.

I saw a post on Donny's Facebook earlier where he was recommending The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. I was considering that as well. His bible thumping friends seem to support Walter Mitty but not so much The Wolf of Wall Street. That made the decision easy for me.

The Wolf of Wall Street it is.

Saw American Hustle today, and it had one of the qualities I love in a movie...it started out OK, then got progressively better, and better until it was fantastic in the last act.

I only saw first one and watched only a trailer of second one and I am 99% confident that second one would not be as good as Furnace.

+1 for Furnace and I say that with confidence.

I feel like its turned into a needlessly long series of midgets walking around dark caves. It's to the point that you really have to love the books to appreciate the movies.

Peter Jackson is adding too much stuff that was never in the Hobbit. Way more so than he did with LOTR. There was enough story by Tolkien to make 3 movies without recycling ideas and gimmicks from the last 3 movies.

I'll agree that the Hobbit really could be one 3 hour movie, but I kind of like what Jackson's doing with the story embellishments -- and I'm a fan of the book since I was a little kid. A movie is a movie and a book is a book. What it comes down to mostly is that I'll watch 9 hours of whatever Peter Jackson does because I love his work. A mediocre Peter Jackson movie is better than most movies.

True, true. Sure it won't stop me from getting the extended version and watching it at least 20 times.

DPhil 12-31-2013 07:58 AM

Saw that the other night.

Sad, yeah...but an incredible film. Started out rather slow - then the last half was mind-blowing.
