Dumb question. Where to get music for new mp3 player

My youngest wanted a MP3 player for Xmas.

I don't use them and have no idea how to go about it.

Where can I get some music to put on it?

Sly 12-23-2013 04:39 PM

Rip CDs, iTunes, or if they will be mostly using it on your Wi-Fi network and it has app access, get Spotify. The free version is now available on mobile devices.

sure can.

in fact, i bought several cd's as xmas gifts this year there and they include audio rip, i.e., i get the cd and can d/l the tracks as well/

dyna mo 12-23-2013 04:49 PM

oops, it's call auto rip

Learn More About AutoRip

Complete your purchase of an AutoRip album to save a free MP3 version of the album to Cloud Player.

After you complete a purchase of an eligible AutoRip album, a free MP3 version of that album is added to your Amazon Cloud Player library and is available on your PC or Mac computer, or other connected device. Usually this happens right away, but in some cases it can take up to 48 hours after your order has shipped.

sure thing, the cloud player works offline also, just be sure the add to cart button for the cd has the autorip logo, like this one

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

they also have a huge selection of just regular mp3 tracks, you can buy for .99c each and such

No troll.
I dont' use mp3 players. Ipods or any of that.
The only time I listen to music is live in person, or ocasionally on Youtube.

Otherwise I don't even listen to the radio. I prefer peace and quiet when I'm driving.

I use spotify on my phone and bluetooth It to an iLoud in the office, just got the iLoud, pretty good sound out of that little portable gadget :)

SilentKnight 12-23-2013 07:38 PM

I use the audio recorder app on my SG4 while singing in the shower.

Tub acoustics are fab.

It's copyright infringing, so I wouldn't recommend doing that.

As others have said, there is iTunes however you can also use Beatport.com. Amazon in some countries lets you download music.

keysync 12-24-2013 11:49 AM

I went with Amazon. Pretty nice setup they have.
Easy to transfer music too. I like it.

not sure how old they are, but take a look through 'soundcloud.com'

Hard to imagine people still buy single cds/songs with shit like Spotify. Something like $9/month and I have access to just about any music I want. With my entire playlist also on my phone, not to mention can make my playlist available 'offline' so I can listen to it even without service..example: blasting through powder in the mountains..

People still use separate MP3 players?

dyna mo 12-24-2013 12:18 PM

put me on the record stating spotify sucks asses.

:)

it's plagued with issues. when i want to listen to my music, i don't want to hit the play button wondering if i will be listening to musics anytime soon.

If we are talking about not buying it then why bother your way, better go to music torrents.

Check for online music shops, i bet you can find some real deals and much cheaper than itunes...

You really never downloaded anything that way or some torrent? Not once in your life?

TheSquealer 12-24-2013 01:15 PM

I like spotify - listen to it everywhere... Home, car, gym etc. almost any album you can think of is there, it's cheap, you can download music for offline playing etc. no reason to buy music when you can achieve the same thing with a service like spotify that is almost free compared to buying music.

You know I have an upgraded version of spotify. Not the premium one but the one that takes the ads out and allows you to keep playing tracks. $4.99 it costs.

Anyway, last time I tried to stream from my mobile it didn't work. It said I needed to upgrade to premium or whatever. Is this a fairly new thing?

nope, not new. that's the same sort of thing that happens when i tried it. and their cs contact us is a black hole, i'm still waiting for a response to my attempt to contact them many months ago.

TheSquealer 12-24-2013 01:58 PM

We used spotify in my gym, all day, everyday with the free version sharing their playlists with us. Never seen any of these issues. Pandora however (paid version) was frequently buffering and stopping and had a horrible selection compared to spotify

dyna mo 12-24-2013 02:39 PM

spotifight!

I use it 14 hours a day on multiple devices (2 computers and iPhone 5s.) Very rarely any issues, maybe twice a month. I'm not saying your issue did not happen, just saying very strange and sounds isolated. You may want to give it another shot.

The mobile compatible version was $9.99 monthly, but they just released a free version as well.

gave it another shot, uninstalled it after giving it a good go. the deal breaker was how it preloads selected channels (michael buble? wtf!) and doesn't let you delete any channels, which was the real killer.

i couldn't take michael buble staring at me from the interface

http://o.scdn.co/300/6396512da89dc21...3f25a34aa09bfc

i also thought the songs it played in the mixes were cheap non-popular songs, the blues channel didn't play any thing recognizable for at least a couple hours.

i appreciate the suggestion though!
