Just found out an hour ago that the cunt who tortured and killed my pet cat a few years ago died today. He was only in his mid 30's.

Interesting that you said "pet cat". I read that and wondered how many people might think you live with mountain lions or if that confusion has often been a problem for you in general.

Also interesting to note that everyone here would argue against the death penalty in the criminal justice system and call it inhumane all day long and at the same time publicly express the view that the death of a cat warrants the death of the offender as being a fair and just punishment.

If that guy had tortured you instead of your cat do you think your cat would have given a fuck about you? I say kill anyone who abuses any animal but I just don't understand how people become emotionally attached to cats when it is clear they don't give a damn about humans.

How is this conclusion 'clear' to you?

From a neurological perspective, a cat is likely really only operating on nothing more than a few basic innate, hardwired programs in their brain and likely has next to zero conscious awareness of anything at all, including their owners.

For example:

1) find/stalk/catch jerky things that look like their natural food - i.e. birds or rodents
2) play with them once caught
3) eat them once playing is done
4) shit where you can bury it
5) go to food/stay close to the food source

There isn't much more happening in a cats brain and i would be surprised to learn they have any conscious awareness of their owner - beyond being anything other than that thing that feeds them. All of the rest,... their cuteness, their perceived personality traits etc etc etc is nothing more than our own projection and imagination.

What you perceived to be cutely "playing" with a string or dangling object is likely nothing more than a triggering of the primitive "hunting program" in their brain and the fact that they will do it for so long with no reward, is evidence that they lack the ability for conscious interruption of those instinctive behaviors. Apes are infinitely more evolved than cats and they are basically still full blown retards by any measure of intelligence.

Everyone loves to think their pet is on the brink of publishing their doctoral thesis and graduating with honors, but the simple truth is that is an illusion of the mind.

So if someone kills a dog aswell then the owner shouldn't give a shit because the dog wouldn't care about the owner ??

When I used to live at my parents house years ago, when they would go on holiday I would look after their cat. Feed it, give it water, everything that it had while they were still there.

For those 2 weeks though when they were away, the cat would always act up, go off her food etc. When they would return, the cat would go back to normal again almost right away.

To suggest cats don't get attatched to some extent to their owners Is quite simply ridiculous...

And another thing, what should my reaction have been then when I found out what that asshole did ?

I danced on the grave of a cunt that died in 2008 - he caused me untold misery in the mid 1990's taking over a company I was a top manager for and he was a fraudster from the start and got me arrested for a fraud I didn't commit... it was in France at the time and in a ski resort where they had one of those programs following around "ski cops" - I was innocent but I had to endure nearly 24 hours of shite in the cells (police were pretty harsh once cams had disappeared) and local shame until I got to tell my side of the story.

I then found out this fucker was involved in nasty mortgage scam fraud in the late 80's and did time... fucking sleazebag... I still laugh at that piece of shit wormfood now!

I take it you've never studied anything even remotely close to brains, neuroscience or the experience of consciousness. The illusion is powerful,... I get that. Many animals such as cats do in fact possess mirror neurons (to an far lessor degree than humans) which allow them to experience emotions/feelings of others as well as intentionality and as such, they can respond accordingly. That response however is not a conscious response that comes after conscious reasoning. There is little to zero evidence to prove they experience any real degree of consciousness. Just because you are upset at your dog and he reflexively responds correctly with his behavior, doesn't mean he has any conscious awareness of what's happening as these behaviors are all unconscious and instinctive. Again, I fully understand the illusion is powerful, people want to believe it. People are biased to believe it. Many people who replace animal relationships with human relationships need to believe it. But it is, for the most part nothing more than ones own projections.

I grew up with a house full of cats and dogs. My personal observations and experience have nothing to do with the primitive brains and limited function of those of lower animals such as cats.

As I've said, primates are infinitely more intelligent than cats or dogs and have much more evolved brains. They are still full retards by any measure of intelligence. They are not capable of cooperative behaviors. They are not capable of recursive language. They are not capable of a million things that we'd disagree with as we observed them and our minds are tricked into believing something is happening that isn't, as our biases kick in.

I've always been deeply fascinated with the extent to which we attribute human traits to animals which clearly aren't even possible.

I love all animals but dogs are extra amazing. I like cats as well and am enraged when anyone mistreats a cat. I just don't understand why someone would want a cat as a pet other than for catching mice.
