Thanks, Apology to Amerinoc
Since i am pretty sure we tackled the problem, i guess it is probably time for my apology letter before i slip into a coma;-)
Since tuesday morning all of a sudden all our webshops were offline, going into random installation modes for no reason. It worked great for a long time. It appeared it happened to all installations, which was weird, impossible really. I contacted support because i was in trouble. Its a busy week before xmas, or so it could be. It was not going fast enough so i got aggetated. When support was there, there were no problems known, so it must be our stores, right? I did not think so, but it wasn't the server either. I was disappointed so it started to get unfriendly, mostly from my end for not getting the answers i wanted. NObody had ever had these problems but us, zero known cases. I said i installed an update after which it occured, but it was an update of something else on another domain. Yesterday Mike helped me for what i guess is most of his shift, others helped too and even though we all hoped a final new installation of Magento would help, i woke up to installation modes again. Since Matt/Chris started today, they both spend a fair amount of time looking into it as well, and guess what, the answer is finally here, after many many hours of not sleeping, being a dick to my family and the guys at Amerinoc, a fix is there. Apparently the upgrade i did was too soon, only days later other users start to complain about the same problems and the writer of Piwik (yes, piwik, beware for updates;-)) posted a solution just now. I owe Keih, Mike, Matt and Zachary an apology for being unfair at times and pointing fingers. It wasn't the server, it wasn't Magento. If my head was more clear instead of filled with frustration, i might have thought of removing any Piwik references in Magento and put 2 and 2 together. You guys tried a lot, spent many hours working with me to fix this together. In the end, i'm glad tomorrow i can move forward and if things stay as they were before tuesday, you will most likely not hear from me any time soon. Have a nice holiday to all of you and your families. Thanks again, Paul. ps. Wow, this was hard i am stubborn as hell ;-) |
not often someone admits that its not the hosts fault.
