White lawyer gets himself arrested to test if CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM is RACIST (shocking results?)

I know many people here have their assumptions, but please, set those aside for a few minutes and read this article. It might just change the way you look at things. http://www.theatlantic.com/national/...system/282360/

Great article...thank you for posting the link.

Nothing that most do not understand as business as usual here in the USA where everyone is "equal"! What a joke!

happyending 12-17-2013 04:54 PM

Us = not equal

Hey the US is in no way Equal when it comes to the Criminal Justice System vs Blacks, Minorities & the Poor.

1. Poor (& White) = No real Representation = Your Fucked,

2. Your a Minority = You get the maximum hard to beat any Rap,

3. Your Black = If your not in Jail already than the mostly (White) Authorities want to put you in Jail

The Justice System is a Meat Grinder once you get in it they take most if not all your rights away the only way to fight it is if you have lots of Ca$h than only than do you get to assert your Rights.

This article isn't about white people being treated better. Its about how the justice system is poorly organized and effectively useless to reduce recidivism in minor crimes. The dude did some graffiti and couldn't visit his family for almost a year.

Lawyer up! And Never bring a knife to gun fight! Simple conclusion .. we pay the lawyer, to reduce the fines, in the end it is a wash.

mineistaken 12-17-2013 06:40 PM

Wow, cops were not looking suspicious at a man in (probably fine) suit? Thats racist!

And he expected cop to jumo him or even tase him for carrying spray cans? :1orglaugh

As if he wants to imply that cops would tase black guy in a suit who calmly walking with some spray cans? :1orglaugh

Fucking ridiculous article.

mineistaken 12-17-2013 06:54 PM

And, congrats to him for being traitor of his race and class, as one of the comments on that article said :)

What seems to be missing here is the reality of the situation.

When it became obvious that he was trying to make the prosecutor look bad they made an example out of him. In police circles its called POP Piss Off the Police

A friend of mine, a retired city of Atlanta officer who primarily worked zone 3 (one of the worst ares in atlanta) told me how wasy it is to jack a small time user, or prostitute, confiscate his/her drugs and keep them for POP circumstances.

He pulls a guy over for speeding or running a redlight or whatever and the guy pisses him off, he asks permission to search the car, granted or not slipping a small quantity of drugs into the car is the easy part. guy says no drug dog comes and alerts and the guy goes to jail on a possession charge.

So who will the jury believe? The cop of the guy that says those drugs were planted.

He also explained a half dozen ways he said every cop knew to defeat a polygraph...said unless the feds gave the polygraph and spent a lot of money on the highest of the high end polygraphs anyone can defeat them with a few simple tricks and a basic knowledge of how they worked....said they would even practice it with a local examiner.

The bottom line is dont piss off the police.

Something this attorney certainly set out to do.

Great read. Sad read. Cops probably thought ACLU at first and did not want to give him a soap box. Then he pissed them and everyone up the food chain off. Never piss off a cop unless jail is like home sweet home.

mineistaken 12-17-2013 07:34 PM

What's so sad? That cops did not want to arrest some tidy looking gentlemen in a suit?

The sad pathetic state of the judicial/police state.
The Jefferson quote at the end nails it home.
