Any skydivers in here?
Yo!
I'm about to start skydiving, and i'm curious on where the straps for the parachute are located? I want to pierce my left nipple, but that might be a bad idea when it's less than 14 days until the skydiving course starts? Anyone have any thoughts about this? |
You will go tendam and the strap will prob be on your partners shoulder so dont worry about it.
Amke sure to fork out $300 for the video it is so worth it. |
Probably the best thing I have ever done in my life. Have fun!
|
No it's not tendam, done that, now i'm aming for my own cert.
so still curious if i should wait with the pierceing or it should pose no problem? |
Depends on the type of shute you will be wearing. Most strap across the chest over your sternum. I don't see it being a problem...actually that will be your least of potential problems. I doubt you will be concerned about your nips hurting.....lol
What altitude will you be jumping from and what type of shute will you be wearing? Once you become experienced, seek out to jump from a hot air balloon...nothing like it. Get photos too. Good luck to you and don't panic....lol |
One more thing for you to consider but I am sure your instructor will educate you on the type of canopy to get if you elect to pursue this thrill seeking hobby.
There are three main factors when selecting a conopy. 1) Your weight 2) Your experience and ability 3) The type of canopy ride you want. There are 5 classes of canopies. Class 1 is for the student or beginner. As you get higher in classes, the chutes have less margin for error. It is all about wing loading. You will be taught this. At least I hope you will...lol My last piece of advice is to eventually learn to pack your own chute. Last dude I knew that didn't pack his own chute, crashed and burned. When I was in the military, we had what were called riggers, they packed our own chutes. Needless to say, I had 1 malfunction in the 500+ military jumps. Nearly killed me but for sure scared the living shit out of me. I personally think civilian jumping is more dangerous because there are a lot factors to consider such as wind speed at the altitude you plan on deploying your chute and wind speed on the ground, experience level and type of canopy among a few others. To many times we say fuck it and go for it any way because of the rush we become addicted to. never say "fuck it, it will be ok" There is always tomorrow or next week. Enjoy the sport but always remember to keep a level head. |
If you're on a beginner chute your ripcord will be by your right hip and the reserve will be in the middle of your chest. No worries.

I jump and I agree, it's the best thing I ever did, including learning to fly.
Personally, I would hold off on getting the piercing until after ...so you know you have time to heal. Just a though, but with the training for an AFF jump, you spend a lot of time on the floor and moving around. You don't really want to be thinking about that new nipple ring during that time. Just a thought. Good luck! Brutal |
Im a MUFF diver dose that count ???
:thumbsup :winkwink: |
Talk to Hollywood. He's a pro skydiver. I'm sure he'll post and help you out ;)

skydiving is fuckin chill, and yeah, you might have some trouble w/ the nipple peircing... You've got the straps around your theighs (sp) and then you have like backpack straps, and a connecter right across the chest. as soon as you pull the canopy, that thing pulls tight, REAL tight and also jerks around a bit, so it could rip out the peircing. Believe me, i fucked up my neck on one dive, almost didnt make it to the ground, safely anyway. Sucked cause i lost most of the motor function in my arms, so navigating, was difficult.
Have fun and make sure you watch the guy packing your chute :) |
My best friend in High School was a total daredevil, skydiver and became a Navy Pilot. One day he decided to push the G-Force limits on his F-15 beyond the max and he blacked out in the process and then lost control and kaboom. Wasn't able to eject in time.
Another friend of mine had his main shoot malfunction and his reserve shoot, but was saved by hitting into a forest and snagged on enough branches coming down to survive. He has some fucked up looking body scars like he went through a torture chamber. I think skydiving is risky business. I love para-sailing though. That's fun and fairly safe, though one time I saw a heavy woman drop down a second to early and they wacked her into the side of the landing dock instead of on top of it and she got knocked unconscious. Man was not meant to fly me thinks. |

I've read things on a few websites and I'm too heavy to do it? I'm about 260 lbs right now. Anybody know anything about the restrictions (jumping alone, or tandum) on this?
|
What's it feel like when you're free falling?
Kind like going down a rollercoaster, except it's for a few minutes? |

Thanks dudes!
I got a hold of my AFF-instructor and he told me it would be fine, so i'm doing the piercing in 2hrs :p dam this is gonna hurt! |
Your adrenelin is going to be so high you will not notice any pain from your nipple being pierced. :)
Always go AFF! Tandem is for chickens! My first jump was AFF and all that happened to me was a busted lip from my altimeter smacking me in the face and extreme brusing in my crotch area from the harness not being tight enough. :) No sex for a week! Jumped at 13,500, pulled at 5,500 and my chute was packed wrong and I did a back flip over my chute when it opened. They call it an explosive chute. I lived, but man was there a lot of blood! Have fun! Hugs, Danielle |
