What are PROS and CONS on using tube sites to promote sites

Is it a good idea to put my exclusive content on tube sites to promote my site. Is that the way to go these days.

PR_Glen 12-13-2013 12:07 PM

well i'm biased so take with grain of salt:

-promo your content with watermarks, your own banner with a high volume of traffic.

-pays you for ad impressions from your content views.

-save on hosting costs

all available in paidperview.com if you are interested.

Wizzo 12-13-2013 12:39 PM

Since that is where the traffic is, I would say that is a pro. :pimp

Joe,
You need to study them, see what people are looking at, what is most popular and so on. Lots of data for you to get info from. Then craft your video, title, keywords, and so on. Don't just toss a bunch of stuff on the wall as so many do, think it through and they will bring in sales. Some tubes are better than others based on what kind of content you have, so you will have some trial and error.

I'm not a fan of tubes, but we are where we are and I'm not going to pass on members they can give me. You'll also see a spike in type-ins, not everyone clicks links and will type in your site name instead.

help the enemy....

Awkward 12-13-2013 02:25 PM

And contact me for watermarking or adding intros and uploading them to tubes at the best price :)

Watermarks are great because every single porn surfer types in ridiculous URLs after they are done masturbating.

Typical watermark: h**p://www.mys*perdperpornsite.com/pornh*b/"

Typical surfer: "Yes! OMG! Whoooo!!!!!!" THAT would have been a great video if it wasn't covered with shitty watermarks. After I rinse the cum off my hand, I will go right back to my computer and type in that random url that obscured half the video.

You have to realize that every video you release is going to have many many generations. You will upload a watermarked video. Someone else will cover your watermark and re-release the video with their own url. Then someone else will upload it to Youtube with a different url. If you have the budget - fine. Just understand that for every cent you make, other people are making a dollar. And, ultimately, someone will upload a shit quality version of your video with your watermark intact.

If you ain`t Brazzers - tread carefully.

i like POOS and CONS.... :2 cents:

amacontent 12-14-2013 02:48 PM

So is it better to put NON exclusive content on tubes and keep exclusive stuff for FHGs and site only ?

watermarks do work regardless of what somebody else above said...now the thing is big tubes like xhamster will not let you upload with watermark "because surfers do not like watermarks" :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh but if you cut them in on your sales "then surfers love watermarks and original content and we are a promotion platform" ect ect :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh

(stolen videos with covered watermakrs are NO problem for xhamster they only have a problem when the actual owner of the content wants to promote his own content and this is against pirate policy)

you need to game tubes like this...never ever ever give them a cent...sneak in your watermark, say ever 50 seconds for a few seconds...spam the shit out of their tubes with many different accounts...always keep in mind that tubes are fair game and are there to be fucked...

the lesser tubes will allow watermark but fucking over the big ones is where the money is at as far as tube traffic goes :2 cents::2 cents::2 cents:

Joe your content is going up on a tube anyway so you might as well have the opportunity to compete against the thieves with your own content..... :2 cents:

The pro is Exposure.

Con is you are giving content away for free.

I see some companies submit a ridiculous amount of long duration videos, or allow affiliates to run a muck, with them registering their own watermarks and that leads to brand confusion. When I say a ridiculous amount 30-50 videos a week if not more to every big tube. It gets to a point where if there is so much content out there, I think it devalues your content over time, and surfers just learn to love it on the tubes.

So like anything else in business, I am sure a certain level of it is OK, but it needs to be monitored / policed. :2 cents: Don't just give away the farm for free, and if youre submitting it around and not seeing results, then stop.

FANTASTIC advice here. My company uses a lot of tube strategies so I think I understand the Pros and Cons of working with tubes just about better than anyone (ahem).

Each tube is differant, each tube you need your own 'strategy'. Gone are the days of just uploading content and seeing results.

MONITORING your uploads is KEY. Many times you upload a vid to a tube and it sits in your profile, producing only a few hundred or a couple thousand views. The CTR from that? Tiny. HOMEPAGE PLACEMENT is where you get the big traffic numbers BUT - and this is a giant BUT - the tubes control WHO gets on their Homepages. And if they have their own paysites, or strike deals with certain paysites, then your chances of making it to the Homepage are very slim.

So what to do? Try, give it a shot, monitor the uploads, give it a couple months. But if you aren't seeing traffic (and sales) from all your efforts then simply stop and try something else.

Good luck either way!! :thumbsup

Crucifissio and Biggy offer good advice. Just realize that the more you give away the lower you are pushing your sales potential in the long term for that product. Also realize that you will eventually see diminishing returns. I've seen people right here on this forum not realize this and after giving away the farm they end up out of business in a year or two. The same has happened in general to paysites as a whole in our industry too.

I'm at a state though where I say unless your content is truly unique (as in nothing else like it rather than talking about just the license) you'll probably be better off using it to sell some other product rather than the content itself. That is how far gone the paysite side of the industry is as I see it.

Yup, agreed.

The other side effect is the tubes use "channel" pages to target your brands. So when consumers are searching for your site in Google, which is very common and typically every paysites largest term, guess what shows up at the top...

Your channel page with all those long-duration videos for free. Google ranks them high cause its a lot of great content and a great value proposition for the surfer. And that could potentially discourage a lot of people from joining your site when they could see hundreds, or thousands of your videos for free, conveniently, many times in HD. And as the poster before me said, many times those videos aren't even hitting the home page or getting exposure :2 cents:

Every paysite owner should be monitoring their site brand keywords in google + all variations and google DMCAing torrent / piracy sites out of the results (this is a side topic, but an important tip). They should be doing this 1-2x a month at a minimum.

tubes will outrank you for your own content if you play it by their rules...you need to go in dry, make the tubes bite down on the pillow :1orglaugh never let them make a cent....this way you have double satisfaction...

TNVeric 12-15-2013 01:26 PM

will give it a shot

A few of my members have told me I would make a killing if I posted some of my stuff on tube sites, so I may give it a try.

Of course one of my members once suggested I would make a killing by shooting girls sneezing...

A strategy I have been using lately is in regards to those Channel pages. If I see a video that is getting a teeny tiny amount of views I delete it. Sometimes I delete dozens of videos!

My goal is to have a limited number of high views clips, all cleverly edited, so even if someone hangs out on my Channel pages they will only ever see a tiny portion of what's available inside my 32+ various Members Areas. Of course, this may be enough for some surfers but for others it's a tease.

I also try and NOT do 12 minute+ video submissions. True, they get more VIEWS, which helps the tube sites make money (ads, cams etc) but does not help ME make sales. So I try and keep the clips around 6 mins or so, with every once in a while throwing in an 8 or even 10 minute clip. But the longer clips tend to be 'compilations' so, in the end, everything is highly edited.

I own a tube, but only for the promotion of my partner websites that I am an affiliate of. I do email tons of webmasters, from the sites over at FootPervert.com to the rest of my directories. I get maybe 20 percent that are willing to give it a shot. But the tube is getting popular, although I need to continue to do so much more for advertising...

Idk, with the "visual directory" thing, I have gotten more sales when sites take advantage of my tube. My conversions, knock on wood are usually less than 1:500. So although I have so much more to do with my porn site directory, as for me, I usually let you guys call the shots as far as how you want your content advertised... But honest tubes are few, true that.
