Why do republicans...hate the new Pope?

He told people not to spend money for Christmas and the US economy is based on consumerism and keeping the population controlled by being in debt.

Because Fox & the radio screamers tell them to.


He's a threat to the Social Darwinist agenda the huge-money interests which have hijacked the GOP are pushing. So the word comes down.....

Yeah, some of their mouthpieces have come out downplaying his inconvenient 'be like Jesus' talk.

It makes sense. A lot of very religious people are only really religious when it is convenient. I remember reading a while back that they were upset with then President Bush because they felt he didn't follow through on his promise to give religious groups more money for community programs. He did, but the stipulation was that it was supposed to be used to help people get foot and shelter and aid the poor. Most groups wanted money for abstinence and anti abortion stuff among others. They chose to take nothing over taking money to help the poor.

The days of thoughtful discussions regarding policy issues is gone forever, it seems. This is now the state of "political discourse". *sigh*
