cars are so much cheaper in the US (and Canada)...

but i dont want to buy a new car, it would park outside in the city center all the time and throughout the year and it would be ruined quickly. waste of money.

i rather buy another beater like the last one - bought it for $5k and it lasted 4 years i think

Antonio 12-11-2013 06:11 AM

If it's for city driving, buy something small and second-hand; years ago I used to drive a City Golf (don't think they ever sold them in Europe) and you can fill in the tank and drive forever and ever

Markul 12-11-2013 06:27 AM

That sucks.

In the last two weeks, I spent a total of $3400 on repairs on two cars that just had to have "service" done on them :(

Get a city car yea, my gf drives a toyota iq - has good mileage and can park anywhere. Just get the Q2 or Q3 version and it's decent car (unless you want to have lots of HP haha)

cant be too small, we need to carry our equipment from time to time...

we had a Mercedes station wagon:

next one doesnt have to be that big but i agree that it has to be a used one.

the automatic transmission died, the car doesnt move 1 centimeter by itself

if it requires a new transmission it's definitely more expensive than the car is worth

jódete 12-11-2013 09:31 AM

mercedes is the only car i`m loving it. :winkwink:

Vendzilla 12-11-2013 10:14 AM

Sounds like you got your money out of it, I have a 2000 f150 that just went over 170k miles and still looks like it just came of the showroom floor. I've had to replace a transmission and a ring and pinion gear. Other than that, damn strong truck. I've had it air born behind the Playboy offices when I worked there with Loryn and Ice in it!

Cars are not all that cheaper in Canada than Europe, especially when you have US tv and see all the deals on cars just 15 minute drive away.

I don't know why anyone would ever buy a car in the USA, leases are unbelievably cheap, like nothing! Brand new BMW for 3 years, $300 a month, shit like that.

postalsex 12-11-2013 10:36 AM

leasing is the way to go you can deduct 100% of the lease from your company income tax.

CarlosTheGaucho 12-11-2013 02:10 PM

Well I still have a spare one if you were interested :winkwink:

In all honesty, that is the economical and logical way to go. New is a waste unless its a 100% biz expense. No sense paying 8x as much just cause it has less KMS/Miles.

Even factoring in upkeep and repairs, used is the way to go.

Perfect example: We paid 3500 for our Pt Loser ($200 a month). Prolly put 2200 in repairs since buying it last November (700 of which was actual upkeep and not related to wife's driving haha). So total cost per month averaged to $369 a month. That's still a lot less than payments on a new car and all the major shit was all repaired (including a busted timing belt that almost murdered it).

Best part is, it's almost paid off and will last us another few years (so long as wife's driving stays good).

Tom_PM 12-31-2013 12:55 PM

Dear Diary, my car died today so I guess it's time to buy a new one. Plus I think that girl I like looked at me.

:) j/k. good luck on the new one.

nikki99 12-31-2013 03:57 PM

happy new year MaDalton! :thumbsup
