I need a truck, temporarily, without credit or much cash... any big ideas?

The guy is telling me, look it we have this KC route, the pay is good.. right... but you've got to have a truck. A reliable truck.

So I need to get one for a few hundred per month some way.

Any big ideas? I thought about those sites where you can assume some moron's lease, but, I would not want that because when I'm done with the truck I want to walk away and that'd suck to do that to someone after you assumed their lease, I would think.

Choopa Phil 12-02-2013 10:36 AM

I would assume that using a truck as a work vehicle would probably damage it significantly. It probably would not be the best idea since youll need to repair or pay for the damages before you give it back.

You already made a thread about this and were told you would lose money overall due to maintenance from driving the fuck out of the truck
Just get a damn burger flipping job already and give up trying to be creative because it's not working

It's Gordon Ramsey, not Rainy. He's famous for yelling at inept wanna be chefs.

iwantchixx 12-02-2013 07:36 PM

This is stupid.

Why do you ask such ghetto questions?

Common sense says: If you cant afford a truck, don't buy one and move on as nobody will say "here bud, use my truck for a few months for a few hundred bucks". Nope, not going to happen.

Common sense also says: Go buy a $500 beater, make it roadworthy and done.

You gotta take ahold of your life man, think things through and stop asking such dumb questions related to your personal life... just sayin'

Other than that, no disrespect meant.

L-Pink 12-02-2013 07:41 PM

Don't do it.

Penny24Seven 12-02-2013 07:41 PM

I love some of the questions you come here with. I mean really. You should know by now. You have to have a better get rich quick idea then this.
What about buying copper pennies or making cup cakes? Or the double dildo double checker.

X_X_ROB_X_X 12-02-2013 07:42 PM

You could always go back to that 'want to live the life of a criminal' thread you made and just go gank' you a truck. Fuck paying for that shit. Feel me!

MrMaxwell must be on one of the all time best fake nicks. What an imagination this guy has.

Seth Manson 12-03-2013 02:46 AM

If you buy a truck, you'll have to put one of those gadgets in it to blow in so you can start it. And then you'll need tires. And then you'll need insurance.

Pretty sure you've made threads about not being able to afford those things in the recent past... so how the fuck are you going to buy a truck?

You're a walking train wreck.

You really think that dude has $500?

johnnyloadproductions 12-03-2013 08:12 AM

Just post an ad on craigslist offering $20-30 for a college kid with a pickup.

I always hate being in a position to borrow or do something like this but it works well.

I've offered money to people on craigslist to cut wood beams for me, as I didn't have the precision saws at the time. Usually they'll do it for free.

Best to be self sufficient.

Sunny Day 12-03-2013 09:04 AM

Don't do it

I hope MRMaxwell never gets banned his posts are crazy fun to read.

You posted awhile back you were going to make deliveries and earn $35,000 per year, but would spend that much in gas. How do you plan to eat? If it's a paper route, vehicle expenses will eat you alive. When I bought my 1st house I took a 41 mile rural/suburban paper route as a second job. I bought a new Toyota pickup. I worn the brakes out in 9,000 miles. A lot of houses you can't just drive by, they have little boxes to put the paper in.

I have a small stake in a cupcake business. Almost 3/4 a million in sales this year. Just opened two more spots in local malls. :winkwink:

You have to be creative, you know. I found a deal on a good truck for $300/mo. It's older, but an '02 toyota should be fairly reliable.

Sounds like you're getting hosed if you have to make payments on a 14 year old vehicle.

Seriously, that should be a grand, tops.

DVTimes 12-05-2013 04:39 AM

In the UK you often have to have insurance for this type of work. And its not cheap.

Before you do this type of work you need to see if your firm requests this.

If your deliveries are close together then its often not too bad. But if they are 5 miles aport then it will take time and fuel.

DVTimes 12-05-2013 04:40 AM

In the UK if you lease then its 100% tax right off.

So if you buy you may be worse off.

In the UK I would sugest you lease a van.

DVTimes 12-05-2013 04:45 AM

If I was you. Buy a decent second hand petrel lawn mower. And cut lawns.

In the UK people make a lot of money doing this.

You could build up a business and take on a few others once you have a few clients.

No one is going to give him a lease when he has no job. Even if he had a job it sounds like he hasn't filed tax returns so he has no proof of income.

sarah-teamcmp 12-05-2013 06:56 AM

I would say if you know anything about vehicles and repairs, then head over to your local scrap yard and see if there is anything worth fixing up. If you can't fix a vehicle yourself, then you're not going to find a lot of great deals. My first vehicle was a Ford Ranger from a scrap yard. Cost $500 and the time I put into repairs. So yeah, that would be my advice.

Actually I buy my cars at auction and you're lucky to get any truck there for a g because people can make money off of them. Toyota trucks are sought after. Some 80's models can even bring a few grand in good condition. A running 02 Toyota in rough condition would bring a few grand. I'd guess $75 a week at a buy here pay here for a year maybe a year and a half for someone who needs to go that route.

signupdamnit 12-05-2013 09:03 AM

Are you sure the job opportunity isn't a scam? It sounds like an IC job and you have to watch those. Think what kind of position you'll be in if you buy this truck with money you don't have and the job doesn't work out.

I know it's only an 02 but it has 31,000 miles on it and it's worth probably 3-4k (I know what cars and trucks are worth if anyone does) ...... $300/mo is not so bad since I don't have to worry about breakdowns or anything like that. I don't even have to insure it as I'll be driving under his garage

I like the way you think, Ms. Sarah.... If it was for myself, I would do just what you're saying.. the thing is, they want for me to have something very reliable.
