Perhaps. However, I would suggest the hobbyist to serious-business-person ratio is just more apparent. The people who treat what they do as an actual business are likely just more focused than they probably used to be, or had to be. The reality is, moreso than ever, you have to put the time and effort in to succeed these days. For many, spending time on GFY is probably not a priority.

I would think it's a pretty safe guess that the seriously minded people are probably just spending more time working than hanging out on GFY, ultimately wasting time. As a direct result, the noise ratio has gone up.

I'm never afraid to ask when I don't know something. If you think that makes me stupid, cool. From my question, I got a great plug in that does exactly what my client needs. Obviously if it was porn, I knew which CMSs would do what I wanted. But as it wasn't porn, I didn't know the best solution, now I do, and I have a happy client. Doesn't sound stupid to me.
