A college student quickly made over $24,000 just by waving this sign on TV.

Here's the deal: Yesterday on ESPN's "College GameDay" (an ESPN college football show that's filmed at a different college campus each week) some student held the above sign that has both the Bitcoin logo and a QR code.

Good one!

That gives me some ideas...

If this is true, the kid is a dumb ass for telling anyone how much he got. Why not do it again and again?

Tip: If you find a real easy money making idea, keep it to yourself so a bunch of people don't copy your idea killing it.

Also, if he really did get those donations to try to raise BTC hype, the kid should have said nothing and pretend like no one was donating so that more supporters would...

anyone who scans that code can put that info into blockchain.info and see exactly how much is in his wallet

its just part of bitcoin - anyone can see how much someone has

Thanks for the info, I didn't know that. So it just shows he has $24000? Does it show who, when or where it came from? Could his mother have given him $23000 and others gave him $1000?

They worked it out on reddit that that it came from the same 2 address within seconds.

Why not go to blockchain and see for yourself? Yes you are able to see how many bitcoins are at an address, how many were sent/received and by which other addresses, how many confirmations the transaction has, etc.

Nothing creative about that... Plus, maybe read up about the entire story :thumbsup

Yeah, that's all I'll probably do.. I just took 5 minutes to do that while taking a hookah break from real work... Mostly because of 'Hi mom send bitcoin' search traffic, not for an actual donation.. :upsidedow

I never post my main wallet key anywhere online
most online wallets will let you generate new ones on the fly so if i need to give one out on a board or reddit for whatever reason id use a new address so people can snoop to see what im holding :P
