bandwidth rates

Whats the average going rate per GB for bandwidth?

Thanks

Do you mean what do hosts charge? It might be hard to find an average. The field seems to be pretty broad. After all, while prices are quoted based mostly on bandwidth, there are other variables-- the source of the bandwidth, the server, storage, service, etc.

Hmmm...not sure about averages, but I've looked at a few places, and, checking the prices and customer service and pacjage quality, I chose Oxeo.com. They charge like $1.90/gig for bandwidth, and honestly, their customer service is tops.
(yeah, yeah, it's inna sig. check it if ya like.)

Size matters. My host charges $0.42 per gig for a large virtual, and $1.66 per gig for a small dedicated.

I guess it all depends on how much you will use....When you take a ded server with 100 MBPS you will of course pay less per GB then when you take a virtual account with 50 GB..

well, it depends on many variables, some of which have been listed above.

Different providers offer different services for different prices

Things that matter are bandwidth type and associated peering arrangements, server type, any server backups, support option and quality of support, etc

i.e.
Do you want straight bandwidth or do you want server support as well? As far as the support goes; are we talking about 24-7-365.25 support or 9-5 support?

I can tell that that if you just want straight bandwidth with no support, the bandwidth will be cheaper for that than for a service that has to staff qualified techs that care about your server at 3AM?that is just one variable that I had picked to illustrate the point.

Different grades of bandwidth might be a commodity, but not the aggregate service?

It?s like asking how much a car costs?ask around, find somebody in a similar situation as you and get their advice?if you want help, don?t be afraid to post what you specifically need?do you want a 2 or 4 door, warranty, etc. ;)

I pay from 0.25$/gig for flat gallery BW to 0.9$ for premium.... but depends on loooottttttssss of factors. Some of the big guys like L3ViP ask up to 5$/gig!! Ouch.....

I pay about $0.25/gb for a dedicated server on a quality quality connection.
