Would anybody like to play an SEO game? (Details Inside)
 

So I just came up with this brilliant idea. Let's create a word. It's a word that can not exist and it really doesn't matter if it makes sense when spoken or if it can even be spoken.

The point is to take the word and do your best with it however it is that you know how. Create pages on whatever domains that it is you have or buy, however you can NOT buy thatword.com

We can create rules, such as you can create sub-directories, sub-domains, whatever. That can be worked out later. All you have to do is someplace on the page make sure that everybody involved in the game knows what your GFY handle is. So in other words, put an image or something that says "Harmon" or whatever.

Also, the contest would have to have a finite time limit. Say 30 days or something along those lines.

Is this something that people may be interested in doing in their spare time? I just think that it might be fun and might really let some of the SEO experts show their true colors. Could bring some business for some companies or individuals.

You don't need a mainstream site. It wouldn't matter if you created a free Wordpress.com or Tumblr just to participate and do your best.

I don't claim to be an SEO expert by any means, but this sounds like it would be fun just to see the results from different methods. Unfortunately, I have so much shit on my plate right now (cue Currently Sober!), that I don't have the free time to participate.

this is an interesting idea however he the one caveat is that whoever has the most juice will rise to the top with little effort amd not actualy use the skills to get there so it's not really a competition who is the best seo but who has the most Jews currently.

Couple of questions:

How is the winner determined. Highest rank in SE? Which? Google? Bing?
Which regional? .com? .co.uk? .tw?
Google Images?

I like 30 days personally, perhaps 45 but past that no.

Just a thought since the holidays are coming up... when you pick the key term... do something charity related. With so many talented people from GFY trying to rank new sites, having them actually provide promo for donations to less fortunate people around the holidays would make a 'fun idea' into something that actually does a lot of good. :2 cents:

Porn has nothing to do with it. For any word that you "invent", Google will magically return results from 1993. I LOVE searching Google and seeing returns dated 2007. 2008. Google news and Youtube are up to date, but mostly irrelevant.

Any non-commercial word, and especially a madeup word can be ranked in a matter of <24 hours, especially on a parasite, none of the actual relevant filters that DO apply to (high value) commercial words are in play here, so this would mean absolutely nothing if someone would be trying to determine if someone is an "seo expert". :error

And for the guy joking about "tubes coming in on top", and everybody else here who is constantly whining about tubes being on top.

Have you ever took 5 seconds to look at their linkprofiles? Do you even realise the insane amount of linkjuice they recieve?

Hint: it has NOTHING to do with "time on site" which many people here seem to be screaming, i can guarantee you that.
