GoPro cameras - worth it?

I have a Sony digital HD camcorder now that I use for various events, such as recording webinars, training sessions, etc., however looking into buying a GoPro HD Hero 3+ but wanted to get some feedback.

We're going to be doing some video of actual clients (of course with their permission), but wanted to see anyone's feedback from these? Are they good enough to use for high res web clips?

I haven't got a GoPro HD but I have seen the quality and it's great. Well recommended.

yeah but the main point is to use them in places where you can't take a normal camera like in the water, strange angles, fast speeds, etc

they're great

I've got the new gopro and it was great at Yellowstone with the kids. I just mount it on top of my head, I'm hands free, and the panoramic looks very cool.

The battery life kinda sucks, but spares don't cost much.

fuck yeah

I have a GoPro silver Hero3 - love it.

Rugged, awesome resolution, waterproof...compact.

I picked one up back when they were fairly new and was very disappointed with the quality, but I see some amazing videos these days with the newer ones.

If you're ok with shooting everything at a wide angle, go for it. They're awesome.

The viewfinder is sold separate and attaches to the back of the camera.

That was my only beef with the GoPro - that I had to purchase the viewfinder separate for an additional $100 bucks.

Thanks.

First time I watched it. Pretty awesome.

Buddy of mine always sets one up for his model photo shoots and uses the video in promos and trailers looks pretty damn amazing.

This video is the best example of "Shot with a GoPro"

This was posted here a while back and I am still blown away by it.

I have the black too and imo, the extra 100 doesn't cover the extras... i don't film in that cinematastic mega resolution, and I find even when skiing I never use the remote, though mounting it somewhere unreachable like on a surfboard or low on a motorbike frame the remote could be handy. If I weremto rebuy, I'd get the silver.

Still, shit hot camera though and excellent quality video. Pick up a couple spare batteries too...

GoPro Hero 3 Black under my multirotors, they are super!

suesheboy 11-19-2013 07:04 AM

Black hero 3.

Sound has much to be desired when recording close to high levels. Cell phone works better.

As for color etc in an indoor environment, good cell phone is better.

In the wild outdoors, as long as the lighting is ok (not too bright or dark) and the subject is close enough it is great. Underwater with enough light...awesome.

Have about $600 plus in mounts, extra batteries, lcd screen, filters and cases alone.

The best feature though it lags is the blue tooth to your phone or tablet. Do not buy a Gopro that won't do this.

I used GoPro and it's quite awesome, in my opinion it worth the price :thumbsup
