Singing those Libertarian blues... :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :helpme

"I need a job,
They gave me Obamacare,
Drones, blood, and fire,
Dropped from the air.
Kick me, beat me, rape me,
I just don't care."

Clean up the vocals so they are more intelligible. #1 rule of a protest (song), make sure people know what you are protesting. :upsidedow

Also, not sure why you wrote this lyric (since you and Claudia are self-employed), "I need a job, they give me Obamacare".

If a person is unemployed, Obamacare won't cost them much if anything, and would likely benefit them.

Quote:

Many unemployed people are eligible for Medicaid; and if they are eligible, that would be what they would have to enroll in.

If they are not eligible for Medicaid, then they would access subsidized coverage in the healthcare exchange.

Never let lyrics get in the way of a good rock n' roll song... :2 cents:

P.S. Lynard Skynard wants their riff back. :upsidedow

ADG:
The lyric about needing a job and the govt. giving Obamacare instead, was a comment on how the country was in a dire recession with unemployment through the roof...but instead of jobs the govt. spent 2009 focused on creating ObamaCare.

As for why I would write the lyric since I'm self-employed, it's a generalized statement.

Same way the Rolling Stones wrote "Gimme Shelter" even though they aren't from the U.S. and weren't involved in the Vietnam War as soldiers. Or Styxx wrote "Blue Collar Man" even though they were not blue collar men.
I was reaching out to a broader audience.

The guitar part is all in open G by the way. And the cadence of the rhythm is similar to "Call Me The Breeze" I think in retrospect. But it's not the same riff at all.
Just like "Call Me The Breeze" has the riff that sounds a lot like The Allman Brothers "One Way Out".

But no, the entire song was an exercise in open tuning. The guitar was actually inspired by The Rolling Stones "Ventilator Blues", even though it doesn't sound like it.

As for your thoughts on Libertarianism...well, you already know how misinformed I think you are. So that point is moot.
I had some things to say in the lyrics, and feel pretty good about the song.

It's all subjective anyway, so if you don't like it or the message in the song...that's cool.

That's funny. Is it for a charity or something?

Really? :error

The Affordable Health Care for America Act, H.R. 3962, was introduced in the House of Representatives on October 29, 2009, and referred to several Committees for consideration.

Obama mostly inherited the dire recession, and the Obama administration began working on job creation soon after taking office in 2009 (remember the "Economic Stimulus Package" the GOP tried unsuccessfully to block), which is why the numbers have switched from a net loss during Bush's reign to a net gain in jobs during Obama's presidency.

Quote:

President Obama has been called a job-killer and worse. But in his over four years in office, Obama has already presided over the net creation of more American jobs than did his predecessor, George W. Bush, in his eight years in the White House. That's the conclusion of a new analysis released Tuesday by Factcheck.org, the nonpartisan voter advocacy website.

I said the govt. spent most of 2009 focused on ObamaCare. That is historical fact. They didn't magically come up with that giant bill that was so big nobody read it on Oct. of 2009. They spent the year writing it.

Look, either accept that the song contains viewpoints that disagree with whatever yours are and move on.

It's just a song. You don't like it, fine. I could care less. :)

Lmfao!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AsianDivaGirlsWebDude 11-16-2013 04:08 PM

You tried to imply that the Obama administration was so preoccupied with healthcare reform in 2009, that they totally neglected job creation.

However, before the word Obamacare was even coined, there was this:

http://s.wsj.net/public/resources/im...0217154523.jpg

Quote:

President Barack Obama signed his $787 billion economic stimulus package into law Tuesday (Feb 18th, 2009), with an upbeat speech emphasizing the road to recovery.

The signing culminated a full White House press to pass the legislation, one of the largest economic rescue programs since Franklin Roosevelt's New Deal. It was a remarkably speedy achievement, enacted into law less than a month after Mr. Obama took office.

Mr. Obama touted the measure's investments in health care, infrastructure, energy, education and, most importantly, job creation, as well as a variety of tax cuts.
So how many jobs creation packages have the Republicans put forth? The Libertarians? :1orglaugh

I checked the Libertarian Party platform to see their positions/policies on employment/jobs. Not much there:

Quote:

We support repeal of all laws which impede the ability of any person to find employment. We oppose government-fostered forced retirement. We support the right of free persons to associate or not associate in labor unions, and an employer should have the right to recognize or refuse to recognize a union. We oppose government interference in bargaining, such as compulsory arbitration or imposing an obligation to bargain.
Mostly just anti-Union...of course, it doesn't matter much, since the Libertarian party has almost no elected officials on any level, and could not generate 1% in the last election (after 40+ years as a political party).

Thank you ADG for trashing my post about my song and video. :)

I just wanted to put it out there...but thank you so much for your input. I was so worried about what you think, but now my worries are over.

If you don't like the song...just say it sucks and then fuck off. Thanks.

Do think that the bass guitar isn't up enough in the mix? For me, it's always the hardest thing to mix just right.

It is good to watch ... You are allowed to express yourself .. and you did so in an entertaining way ...

I am not a supporter or nayer of Obamacare, as a Canadian I do not give a fuck ... But I respect your opinion and I think you did a great job of information and entertaining .

At the beginning, you really reminded me of Serge Gainsbourg ( a little bit in the posture, a lot in the image ) .

Instead of just saying your song sucks, I analyzed it, which led me to the conclusions I did about the weak lyrics/message. :2 cents:

Aside from the dubious and muddy Libertarian agitprop lyrics/message, I found your video mildly entertaining although too repetitive in parts (you should have shot more footage). As a self-made production, it's actually pretty good.

Hey, at least I didn't criticize/make fun of your mad shoveling skills in the video... :winkwink: :1orglaugh :upsidedow
