Spirits in Photos?
Some people say that orbs like these in photos are in fact spirits, what does GFY think? Do orbs hang out around your porn shoots?
|
you mean dust?

Actually if you look just to the left of the light on the top of the stairs there is a KKK Dwarf Ghost... Or it could be a Gnome ghost, it's hard to tell when they are all in white..... |

Edit: I see dead people..... |
I have some photos I took of old graveyards in Charleston, Savannah and New Orleans. Lots of orbs. Could be swamp gas, could be dust particles.
One pic, when blown up appears to have an image of a person in white shirt and straw hat familiar to those from the low country. Faint outlines so...who knows. In all of the graveyards I photographed, between 10pm and 2am there were mass graves from epidemics and graves going back to the 1600's. And lots of orbs. Probably swamp gas. But who knows. |
What was they freaky pic from a porn shoot with the girls in the bath and a really freaky face at the window?..
That actually did give the creeps... |
Looks like humity in the air.
I took some pictures one night on the beach in Cancun and you couldn't see shit. White dots everywhere. |

As much as I hate being the party pooper (I'll leave that to CurrentlySober)...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orb_(optics) Orbs are also sometimes called backscatter, orb backscatter, or near-camera reflection. The effect is especially common to compact (point 'n shoot) digital cameras. Orb artifacts are captured during low-light instances where the camera's flash is used, such as at night or underwater?or where a bright light source is near the camera. The artifacts are especially common with compact or ultra-compact cameras, where the short distance between the lens and the built-in flash decreases the angle of light reflection to the lens, directly illuminating the aspect of the particles facing the lens and increasing the camera's ability to capture the light reflected off normally sub-visible particles. The orb artifact can result from retroreflection of light off solid particles (e.g., dust, pollen), liquid particles (water droplets, especially rain) or other foreign material within the camera lens. The image artifacts usually appear as either white or semi-transparent circles, though may also occur with whole or partial color spectrums, purple fringing or other chromatic aberration. With rain droplets, an image may capture light passing through the droplet creating a small rainbow effect. In underwater conditions, particles such as sand or small sea life close to the lens, invisible to the diver, reflect light from the flash causing the orb artifact in the image. A strobe flash, which distances the flash from the lens, eliminates the artifacts. |
Mods, please delete the post above, he's spoiling the fun :winkwink:

Actually, I have a co-worker who adamantly swears the orbs in his photos are actual spirits. Drives me crazy. He shoots with a $200 piece-of-crap camera - and although I explain over and over why he gets the orbs...he still doesn't believe me. Oddly, I never get orbs with my Nikon d80 dslr. :1orglaugh |

I won't tell the person who told me about them that they're not ghosts, they're so excited about it |

I got 3/4 through the rod film before I realized I had seen it before - My favorite bit was when they were testing the Humming Bird theory with the bird 'expert' - I was shouting at the screen 'but there are no humming birds in China' - Then she remembered - They don't have humming birds in China... They set up 1000's of dollars of equipment and waited for hours before she remembered that little snippet of info..... I knew that - Why didn't she - Silly cow... |

I dont believable in ghosts but I think we can take photos of the past and see events from so .
|
You can get the same orb effect with a camera flash near cinderblock, gravestones, etc. Reflections from the tiny crystals.
|
Franck would love this thread
|
are you for real?
|
I believe in loony toons.

I think this is eye disease, when my bro buy N DS 3D i dont see 3D :D - maybe camera work like eye with disease :D |
There used to be a fan forum for the show Ghost Hunters that had about 20K registrants and some epic fights over these orb photos.
In the few months I attended, I only saw one photo taken at an abandoned sanitorium where what resembled a human face was caught in the shadows of a closet about thirty feet away in the background. Toying with the resolution and contrast, there was a clearer image of a nose and eyesockets and mouth ..... but no body. The rest of the thousand or so user uploaded photos were of this orb junk. Don't know if the forum still exists or not. A database meltdown completely wiped out everything once after the mods purged everything twice because it was so troll infested. GFY was a kindergarten in comparison. |
I don't get it WHP.
You believe every stupid conspiracy theory, suddenly you're a skeptic when it comes to this stuff? |

Yet they'd swear up and down the orbs were spirits and ghosts - even after a dozen people gave them technical explanations of what causes the orbs. It got tiring very fast. |
If I post something it doesn't mean by default that I believe it or that I've even read it, sometimes I read the link I posted after there are about 30 replies :2 cents: :1orglaugh :upsidedow
With Orbs it was a bit different as I know there are photographers here, so I expected some strong technical arguments; I was interested in reading them. :2 cents: :thumbsup Quote:

dust .

You can feel their presence if they have some vibration but seeing a ghost is a myth.
|
the main reason for that is the picture is too old
|
Seems like just some dust particles floating around. but I'm a skeptic, so. yeah.
|
|
I'm a bit confused, what's going on in those photos again?
