Logitech c920 for the cam. It's really good. However, we couldn't get the software to work on a mac, but on PC it's fine.

I do Alienware only. I don't game on laptops, but I imagine the m18x would work nicely. I have one, but I don't game on it.

So, let me check this, you've not used it for camming, but are recommending it anyway?

Solid!

Also, not sure if you got this, he doesn't use it for gaming either. I'm guessing he misread "camming" for "gaming".

My thoughts, exactly. I don't know many [new] cam girls who can afford an Alienware setup.

No, but any worthwhile cam girl should have no problem finding a sap to buy her one :1orglaugh

I have a friend with more money than sense that is constantly being scammed by cam chicks and every time he makes a new "friend" he tells me "this one is different" but it doesn't take too long before he's wiring her money for her grandmother's lifesaving operation etc, etc, etc

If a chick told him "buy me this laptop and webcam so that we can chat more clearly" it would be Fedex'd overnight.

Most cam girls have shitty webcams. Any laptop would work as there's not that much of resources involved in the streaming except maybe on the video card site but the webcam should do the difference. Either a pro Logitech or Microsoft with a trepied and preferably a remote for zooming would be best.

HD Camcorder + capture card. Quad core processor with at least 4G of RAM.

Very true! A seasoned cam girl will get money out of a trick, regardless. I was speaking more of the newer cam girls who are just starting, but you are absolutely correct!
:)

This is why I shouldn't post on GFY so early in the morning. I thought this was a thread about gaming, not camming.

I don't know anything about camming.

I don't buy new computers too often, but it seems to me that when you buy a new computer or laptop you are stuck with the most current OS even if it sucks. We had to purchase a laptop for the wife a few months ago, and everything was Win8. And it sucks badly.

Mac + Logitech C920 + LiveCamNetwork = Success!

But actually the cameras that are built-in to the MacBooks work really well too.
