"The Ministry of Silly Walks": absoultely hilarious. "I'm sorry I'm late but I'm afraid my walk has gotten rather sillier of late."

Also, The Cheese Shop, The Dead Parrot Sketch, Crunchy Frog... there are so MANY. That's it, I'm going to go put in a Monty Python DVD.

Good Lord, if there's one thing you don't need to be to appreciate Monty Python, it's "Educated".

I knew my husband and I were meant to be when we discovered we could both recite The Dead Parrot Sketch from memory.

I can't pick a single favorite sketch or bit...I love "Bring Out Your Dead" ("But I don't want to go on the cart!" "Oh, don't be such a big baby.") and the bit with the peasants gathering dung. ("Help! Help! I'm being repressed! Come and see the violence inherent in the system!") And the women of Castle Anthrax..."First you must spank her, and spank her well. And then, spank me! (and me! cry all the other nubile lovelies) And then...the oral sex!"

And who doesn't love to sing "Sit On My Face" or "The Lumberjack Song?" :thumbsup

Tex Willer 03-03-2003 07:58 AM

also the police squad show :thumbsup

Security: Hold on!

Frank: Frank Drebin, Police Squad

Security: Yeah, and I'm Robert de Niro

Frank: Mr de Niro, we must get inside

--

Frank: Is there a ransom note?
Ed: Yes, the butler found it. It was tied to a window and thrown into the rock garden. I sent the note to the lab. They're demanding a million dollars.

Frank: Why do the boys at the lab want a million dollars.

Ed: The kidnappers made the demands, Frank.

--

Ed: Coffee?

Frank: Yes, it is.

Hee! I just about lost it a few years ago while watching my favorite sci-fi show Farscape...the main character was going to be tortured in this chair-thingie that sort of plays a movie of your memories, and he when the guards came to get him, he said, "Bring on the Comfy Chair."

Miss Novette 03-03-2003 10:57 AM

It's all good!

Love MP. May they live forever!

:glugglug

Sarah_Jayne 03-03-2003 11:55 AM

oh and I disagree you don't need to be smart to get the most out of the Pythons. Some of their stuff is just plain silly but some you won't get if you don't have a decent knowledge base. It also helps to know British culture. Like the one Communist Quiz sketch where there is Karl Marx, Che Guevara and Mao Tse-tung and all the questions are about UK football results. Not only do you need to have clue about communism but know football to fully get the sketch.

Low brow for the high brow.

debbieN 05-03-2003 03:48 PM

I just got another set of VHS MP tapes in today and have been watching way to long.

My daughters fav is the guys climbing the sidewalk and then slipping to there precevable death.

She giggled at the hells granny's.

I enjoyed the mock on the "Saint" it was called the Bishop. Very nicely done. The most irretating family in Britain was also good but not classic.

fnet 05-03-2003 05:18 PM

Wink wink, nudge nudge know wot I mean?

I just watched a movie about Terry Gilliam making a movie.

Sarah_Jayne 05-03-2003 05:22 PM

you know it is a bit weird when you see a thread and think 'oh that looks like one I might be interested in' and then you click and find you already did post in it - months ago.

Fletch XXX 05-03-2003 05:26 PM

Whenever these Monty Python threads come up, I'm the only person to bring up Graham.

Don't for get The Man.

<img src=http://home.insightbb.com/~gonzoid247/Graham_Chapman.jpg border="1">

rest in peace graham.

Cheers,
