pentium from 2005 is still a work horse and cheaper than a mac!

ROLF @ the toolbags saying this when comparing to the new mac must not do much use their computer for much other than watch free porn!

oh yea and $3000 vs $1500 HACKintosh to order parts, deal with any related bs like shipping issues and build it yourself isnt really much of a savings if your time is worth $100 + and hour like mine ;) and lots of mac owners is.

Eh, what're you gonna do? It's sad, but it's just not possible for some people to conceptualize that not everyone is broke and/or not everyone wants to dick around with stuff that any half-competent highschool hack can do. It's not "cool" and they're not a special little snowflake for doing it.

Shrug.

Some other people don't understand that others don't want to spend more money just to have to learn a new OS when they can just happily keep on using what they are used to for a lesser price with equal or superior performance. It's not about being broke. What reason is there for me to change? Less viruses? I haven't had a virus since they introduced an always-on firewall in windows. What else is the compelling reason? I have tried it and basically see the same shit as windows except everything is moved around to places I don't like and now I have no choice in hardware. What if I want a rack mount HTPC that runs a media service similar to mediabrowser? Is ITunes supposed to cut it?

Macs have nothing to offer me except an added learning curve and no hardware choices and less software choices. Sounds great.

I personally can't go back to Windows. I am a developer, and having an integrated UNIX environment is critical for me. My files are automatically shared between devices through the cloud (you need a copy of that invoice I made on my desktop? I'll email it through my laptop or phone). I can connect to and/or control my devices with my other devices, out of the box. I don't personally experience crashing. I almost never reboot. I have a single source of support for my hardware and OS, and a personal rep who knows me and my history. My software upgrades are free or nearly so.

These are just some of the advantages for me. You're misunderstanding the thread, though -- we're talking about people who build hackintoshes, not PC Windows people. The people we're talking about use Mac OS X, but don't use it on a Mac.

I am browsing this forum on a Core 2 Duo @ 1.86GH that I bought way back in 2007. Still works fucking fine and dandy.

Here is a list of everyone who cares:
