How much money have you lost in this e-biz?

Thread for those who have invested in adult or mainstream ventures and got nothing or very little so far.
How much have you invested, what have you did and what did you get in return?

Best-In-BC 10-24-2013 06:43 AM

None, I make money, that's why Im in it, and if people listen to the vets and not the "There's no money in porn" they could too, but most noobs do there ideas first over what someone tells them what works :D Like serously, anyone make any real money from blogs that they have launched in the last year or two and real money not a couple hundred bucks .

No clue but i did smoked decent money on some bad investments, for example once lost 1500$ on paypal/epassporte exchange where money which was sent to my paypal was fake. Also, lost money could be considered when you didnt do something what later seems to be very profitable, but it is hard to correctly calculate in that case. For example,i wish if i jumped earlier on mobile redirect bandwagon when it was golden era.

Godsmack 10-24-2013 09:17 AM

Apart from being robbed from large amounts of cash in the past (MickeyAMS) and some others i only made money..

edgeprod 10-24-2013 09:21 AM

What the hell? How do you lose money?

digitalfantasies 10-24-2013 12:02 PM

I only lost countless hours of work on sites that didn't do anything in the end... the rest is profit

srockhard 10-24-2013 12:59 PM

I only invested $6.99 +my own time in first 12 months and earned just over 15k. Now doubling that each year but I am investing much more now.

Alice22 10-24-2013 06:03 PM

I had some non successful projects with big $$$ loss, but i don't get to exited from this.
I am always willing take risks, and most of my project are successful.

:)

Lost $250 when I first got in, to a scammer.
Other than that scammer, One thing I noticed was everyone I run into held their cards very close.
All the "helpful" people were so vague, I didn't learn anything.
So by pure trial and error, I make my harley payment plus some gas money each month and I'm satisfied with that for now since this is just a hobby.

Unsure if it qualifies as "this" e-biz, but I lost $60,000 with an ukrainian marriage agency venture back in 2003. I had the wrong business plan: setup an office in Kiev to find and photoshoot honest girls who really wanted to marry. Guys wanted to see them naked, not to marry them - so I choice wrong women and business models.
I've then opened cam sites and this was profitable always, until today. The fun fact it is that lots of customers of cam girls wants to marry the girl, which is quite retard.
So I mean I put online honest girls who wants to marry the guys wants to seem them naked and not marry; I put there strippers for live sex and the guys want to marry them, what a lesson I learned.

1 time I met a guy on this board who acted like a big shot baller. I paid him $1,500 to build a site for me, almost 6 months later the site wasn't made and he said he couldnt pay me back.
Finally I said You have 3 days to pay me back or Ill post the story on GFY.
then 2 days, then 24 hours. Then 6 hours or I post it on the boar,d he finally paid me back after that.

other than that I never lost money

The only investments I make are... Getting domains... Getting servers... Pretty much between 5000% and 9000% ROI so far... :1orglaugh

When you invest in some venture and you do not even make money to cover your investment. Example, you invest in a paysite, content and it fails to bring in enough sales.

PR_Glen 10-25-2013 05:50 AM

You guys are all big talkers on here, but I can't think of one truly successful person I've ever known who hasn't blown a tire or two on something more than a few times. If you've never lost money on an investment at some point then you obviously aren't trying hard enough.

keep pretending though.

SilentKnight 10-25-2013 06:18 AM

We nearly lost a few grand back in the iBill era - but we devised a way to get it back.

Yep that is how things work,it is impossible to have perfect score if you are active investor, some things you bank, some you smoke.

marlboroack 10-25-2013 06:22 AM

I always get my money

MrDeiz 10-25-2013 06:34 AM

bought one site myself, which got decreasing in my hands, so resold it in a year for 10% of its worth

other then that were investments with lower ROI but no obvious fail
built a few sites which never got enough promoted (so didn't get ROI on it) and a few dozens of domains i've never used

CAHEK 10-25-2013 09:42 AM

I lost 2000$ in Epassporte account:ak47::BangBang:

ls101 10-25-2013 09:43 AM

Some investors like to play it safe. They take very calculated and small risks only, meaning they avoid some or many opportunities that would be taken by bolder investors. They miss huge scores, but still catch some good ones.

I guess that makes sense, but fuck .. that's a serious failure to plan and/or execute.

Jay - SMASH 10-28-2013 08:21 PM

$55k on facebook ads on a campaign i forgot about.. cocaine is a hell of a drug..

Angelo22 10-29-2013 12:55 AM

Didn't invest in anything - so everything earned here is profit

Mutt 10-29-2013 01:11 AM

I've invested in some domains that if i don't one day build them into something substantial i'll lose a lot on since I overpaid for them. I wasted 10K on dotTV domain leases when it was brand new.

I blew 25K 'investing' in stock options - buying/selling puts and calls, learned my lesson. Another 10K in sports wagering, learned my lesson.

I've lent/invested in people and not sure I'll get my money out. :Oh crap

klinton 10-29-2013 01:16 AM

few $ for domains, thats all
