Mobile App-peeps: will there always be a need for new mobile apps?

I know companies in the past have made good money with apps, but will there always be a need for new mobile apps? Or do you think after a point people will stop buying them because they already have everything?

And please don't use Angry Birds as an example because that's a 1 in a billion stroke of luck. Not realistic.

I'm reading a book on "App Millions" and it was done 2 years ago, i dont know if that's still the case

Of course there will be new mobile apps needed, but forever? Probably not. Something else will come (a chip in the brain apps perhaps).

It's a software product. What you are asking is if I think people will stop buying software because they potentially have everything? Of course not.

The company only released 2 games in iphone/ipad. The Android version was out just now.

Several years ago I remember seeing an interview with one of the main software designers at Adobe. At the time he said they'd taken Photoshop as far as they could...there was nothing further they could think of adding to the features. And development has somewhat stagnated at this point.

I tend to think of phone apps much the same as the old days of BBS shareware. There was a ton of shareware apps available, and although a few were actually useful - the bulk of them was variations and/or duplications of each other.

The novelty wore off.

Try finding someone who still runs an app from the BBS era. I doubt there are many.

Perhaps your answer lies above?

Yes but not all of the silly things goes in top. Anyway stores do not allow adult apps, so our silly things can't be put in the list.

Nothing lasts forever, especially not technical stuff like software.

Im in Mountain View CA right now and hang out with developers. I just talked to a few iOS App developers developers tonight. They are seriously struggling. One has been making apps the past 12 months and hasn't made any money. Another guy told me there are SO many apps and you need millions of hits to get anywhere.
hmmm, they're not the big money thing they were 3 years ago.

There are useful/fun/crazy apps popping out time to time, who knows what comes next. There are millions of nerds pumping their brains on daily basis just to come up with new ideas.
