Who danced to this song 10 years ago?

Memories. Dance scene was strong back in those days. These days not so much.

Post your favorite songs from those club times.

Not sure. Back in those days it was something new, fresh. Remember that before those time it was eurodance stuff which was not "club scene". So basically those times were the prime times of clubbing. Plus nowdays hiphop kind of stuff took away big audience.

I know that it is still here, once a couple months I visit dance clubs when some major world top 50 visits. However its just the same thing as 5 years ago. Its not as exciting (not for older me, but for young crowd in general) as it was when dance clubs were at the peak and when they were "something totally new".
By the way I did not even reach 30 yet :)

Since you are German (when we think about music like that first thing comes to mind - German clubs) and did not dance and even "for sure" I take you were not into dance/club scene back then :)

Dance clubs were new in 320 BC. First famous DJ I remember was in like 84 in NYC. Jellybean or something like that and he was dating Madonna. It has all been downhill since then... or it is about the same.

You are just bored with it, and everyone gets that way after a while. I went out Sunday to a whole different music scene. It was totally amazing and the women were hot as heck etc. It was new to me so it heightens the experience.

Dancing is for the gay people

I was too old to dance to that 10 years ago.

Besides, it sucks,

I can make the same sound at home by throwing a metal fork into my blender.

When I was into clubbing - which was a brief period of my life - we danced to music we knew. We knew the name of the bands, the singers, etc. Now it seems that club music is just one huge beat with no real musician involved.

Where is the fun in that?

Another major hit. Although this was played in a bit different kind of clubs/events. More mainstream, more popular, less underground/drugs clubs.

SilentKnight 10-22-2013 02:47 PM

In the mid-80s we often hung out at Footloose - a dance club just north of Toronto.

This one always got the dance floor packed back then (and no, it wasn't a gay bar...lol).

This song would still draw crowds (not teens, but lets say 30 year olds) :2 cents:

Haven't been to a club in decades, but you're probably right.

BastianWB 10-23-2013 05:13 AM

Drum and bass is and was niche. Barely any club (I believe there might have been some, but that was the exception) entirely dedicated to drum and bass.

Elli 11-16-2013 04:41 PM

Nope. I loved going dancing with the girls, but we went to places with Top 40 pop with some most excellent Def Leppard and AC/DC thrown in for good measure. Nothing gets the ladies dancing like "You Shook Me All Night Long." :)
