I have a custom one I use. I can change the url the short url is pointing to at any given time.
So if something i am promoting goes down i just go into my admin and change the url to something else and do not have to worry about links I also track the clicks :) |

Affiliates using our URL Shortener do it for a few reasons:
1.) Allows more characters for your marketing on Social Media platforms like Twitter which restricts to 140 characters. 2.) Links be updated to point to new locations, so if you update your marketing, you're not losing those links to a campaign you might not be running. 3.) Clicks and sign-ups are tracked by those unique shortened URL's in our stats so affiliates can see which marketing is most effective. 4.) Shortened links with our shortener automatically track through the affiliate's account, so you don't have to specify the account code in the link. 5.) It allows affiliates to mix a non-iFriends destination page with ClickCash marketing to send folks to the page you're describing while also exposing them to iFriends banners. ~Emily |
Mostly use them to hide aff-links in forums.

Its just for me - Not for public use BTW..... Edit: I just read it again - You use a custom one - I might do one myself actually - I could add Geo which would be nice... |

It cloaks the link. Some services allow you to track statistics like the amount of clicks.
Some URL TLD's are even "whitelisted" so it can be useful in some email marketing campaigns. |
1 - shorten links
2 - hide affiliate codes 3 - get stats |
