swirl removal machine
currently bringing back to life a very neglected 15 year old guitar
before, covered with scuffs, scratches, haze and massive swirlies. http://i.imgur.com/xHmUv0l.jpg major scratched here: http://i.imgur.com/1ctYGNO.jpg using meguier's #9 and meguiar's ultimate compound, i alternated applying both and began rubbing out the damage. you can begin to see the difference here, this is after ~30 applications of each product: ( i had to restring the guitar and play it mid-restoration!!) http://i.imgur.com/3ROtLnL.jpg http://i.imgur.com/VVmg1H8.jpg after 50+ applications of each, the major scratches are mostly gone, this is using a lot of elbow grease: http://i.imgur.com/kOIFzqj.jpg . . . . . . . . . . . . . . this is ~60 applications of both compounds and 3 layers of carnuaba wax: http://i.imgur.com/5qZpL2N.jpg |
Is that an original ES335?
. |
I use Maguires products on my Truck and bike all the time, I trust it
|
You sure to know how to make things shine. Why don't you try that shit on my bulbous cock shaft. I bet you'd make it really pretty after trying 300 applications. I bet you really know how to work it baby.:2 cents:

Looks awesome Dyna...look into Poorboysworld - BlackHole. Itll give that paint depth its never had before. Highly recommended!

"super" duper

wow, impressive. i've heard of the dark paint waxes, etc, but have no experience with them, looks like that blackhole has a 5 oz trial size, perfect!
edit, crap, $9 shipping! hah. |

This is the process....swirl mark remover, polish, blackhole, wax. I use synthetic waxes which are also known as sealants. Only 1 or 2 applications is needed of that type of wax. Black hole is 1 pass and youre golden...by hand it may take a couple of applications.

I use the leather wipes on my interior and all the leather on my bike, really adds to the richness of the leather on my Le Pera seat
|
This is from using the "black box" product, specifically for black cars (pics taken right after):

You should strip the carnuba first....some dish soap and warm water should do the trick.
|
got it, thx
|
oh, and i would not want to remove this level of damage from a car paint job! wow, that would be a job. i'm sure with a orbital it would cut down the # of applications but let's say it cuts it 75%, that's still a dozen applications!
that's a shit ton of work. |

i almost went with some attachments for my drill but figured it would not necc fit into all the nooks and crannies anyhoo. and not being orbital was a concern. |
I have a random orbital buffer...the chances of creating more swirl marks or burning the paint is almost impossible. With those drill attachments you can burn the paint or swirl it much easier, same as a rotary buffer.

Hahaha its a very tedious process but when your car looks like glass its all worth it. And 9 times out of 10, as soon as your done it starts to rain.

this guitar is an archtop so it gets a lot of different reflections from various angles, i'll upload some more snaps. |
Postem up!

http://i.imgur.com/il4jhR7.jpg i like where it's going but judging by Phil's car and Edgeprod's car, i still have a ways to go. i'm going to go with a few more applications of the swirl remover, then polish, then black hole and cover it up with the wax! i think it has the quality paint and clear coat to really be something. |

I used to be very image-conscious, needed the nice cars all polished up. Got kind of obsessed with it for a while. |

i'm pretty surprised by the maintenance required but i guess it makes sense, peeps putting their grubby mitts all over a guitar day in and day out- all that grease and grime. and it seems peeps throw guitars around a lot too. |
