Boy kills himself after ?facing expulsion and sex offender registry? for streaking at football game
Interesting, that would mean around 90% of rugby players in the UK should also go on the sex offenders registry :2 cents:
Full story http://engineeringevil.com/2013/10/1...football-game/ - Christian Adamek hanged himself on October 2 and died from his injuries two days later a week after he streaked at his high school football game - He was arrested and school district recommended he face a court hearing - If convicted of indecent exposure, he’d have gone on sex offenders list "A popular 15-year-old student has committed suicide after he reportedly faced expulsion and being placed on the sex offenders’ register simply for streaking at a high school football game. Christian Adamek, from Huntsville, Alabama, hanged himself on October 2, a week after he was arrested for running naked across the Sparkman High football field during a game. The teenager died two days later from his injuries and on Wednesday, friends and family gathered at a memorial service as they struggled to comprehend the beloved student’s death. A video of Adamek streaking during a game against a rival team was posted on YouTube hours after the event and students took to Twitter to call him a ‘legend’." Poor kid...silly thing to kill oneself over. :( :stoned ADG |
It was bound to happen. Our law enforcement and government officials' knee jerk response to anything naked is 'ZOMG!! Arrest them and make them a sex offender!'. Was streaking at the game appropriate? No. Was arresting a 15 year old kid and putting him on the sex offender registry FOR LIFE an appropriate reaction? No. Suspension and maybe community volunteer work would have been more appropriate.

Prime example of why the NSA should keep peoples business out of the public eye. These sex offender apps and shit are fucking worthless... I downloaded one the other day and noticed I was just talking shit and making fun of all the pedos.

The Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act was an overbroad statute having many unintended affects on many people. This is a horrid example ... |

Here is what I mean. Many jails are now run by private companies. These companies want criminals. They need them for profit. So they lobby politicians to make stricter laws and harsher sentencing. The politicians jump at it because it is a cheap, easy sell to the voters. They can come off as if they are tough on crime and when you say, "This new law will make all sex offenders register for life" the voters like what they hear. Nobody realizes, at the time, that shit like this can happen. So the kid gets arrested, they charge him with what they think is the appropriate crime, and now we learn if he is convicted as part of the mandatory minimum sentence he gets to register as a sex offender for life. Unintended consequences all stemming from a company wanting to make money and politicians wanting easy votes. Add in school administrators who are power hungry or forget that they are dealing with kids and you have a recipe for tragedy. |

very stupid to charge him but if this is really the reason why he killed himself, damn what a loser he must be.
|
Theres also a few cases where people have been caught publicly urinating. You could be in a HUGE forested park, pee behind a tree and if you get caught there is a chance you can get put on the Sex Offender registry.

He lost his life over something I enjoy doing everyday, walking around naked.

As we all know from experience young kids do really crazy things at times, not that streaking is high on that list, but once a young person faces the prospects of the insane justice system coming to get him, he simply had no idea what his world had come to and was not prepared to live as an outcast for the rest of his life... Who would be.. |
Weak kid ...

everything is life and death at that age. Some people never grow out of that emotional knee jerk response--lots of examples on this board..
Just because there 'is a chance' he could be put on the registry doesn't mean it would happen. No court on any planet would give him full charges for something that stupid, would have been thrown out of court most likely. They just jumped to conclusions, if anything the media got an assist for scaring him like that. |

its things like this that make me almost as ashamed of being america as our stupid wars do. our society is so fucking bored we have to arrest everyone for doing anything that might not be "normal", fuck the constitution or freedom. they arrest anyone they just don't like anymore and make up a reason for it later. being an outlier is no longer an option, you have to be like everyone else, or be very quiet, else wise you get harassed by the overbearing wingnuts with nothing better to do then establish standards for others to live by. |

He's 15. If he was arrested for murder he would have a clean record when he turned 18. Nothing would make him have a permanent record. Expecially not running around naked as a joke.
|
some responses on here are pretty disgusting - makes me almost wish they had children and the same happened to them
|
that's unfortunate because he wasn't found guilty yet.

I agree - he was a pussy and likely had other issues. They almost always charge people with that whenever nudity is involved, but rarely does it stick. Charge high, plea bargain low. Generally a first offense could easily be plead down to a misdemeanor or less. Now expulsion is another matter. I've known kids expelled for wearing the wrong T-Shirts.
You can get charged as a "sex offender" for pissing in public - even in the bushes or behind an alley. Those too are generally plead down. |
The sex offender registry has gone way too far.
What was put into place so that we could keep an eye on the truly criminal perverts is now hurting the innocent. When I was a kid in the 1970s streaking was so popular people were doing everywhere. I did it, my friends did it, a guy did it on the Oscars and we even had a hit song called The Streak Now 40 years later we ruin peoples lives over such a petty little thing as streaking. Whats next? Women in skimpy Bikini's getting arrested and having to also registrar? We are so screwed up these days :disgust |

Of course that was before this shitty country went down the drain and the decline continues rapidly toward 3rd world status. Get ready for it boys and girls! |

What he should have had was an attorney squashing bull-shit charges and drilling into the kids head that he's a minor and nothing matters once he turns 18. |
America laws are such hard shit sometimes, come on SEX OFFENDER a 15y boy having fun, you have such stuff on Europe big football games from time to time, and nobody got sex offender tag for that shit...

And now his parents will be forever haunted for not getting him that attorney. |
What a sad story.

Very irresponsible and over blown for school officials then again so is kicking kids out for chewing their pop-tarts into the shape of guns. In my day a gym coach or asst. principal would have paddled him and let it go. |

One can only hope that karma bits principal Michael Campbell in the ass and one of his kids dies in an automobile accident or something similar so he can face the daily torture that he has caused this other family with their needless loss.

It's absurd and needs to be done away with same as charging people with 20 things for a single crime in order to get them on something or force a plea. That's not justice. |

Now with Facebook, Twitter, every kid having a cell phone etc. The news is out and everyone in town knows as soon as it happens. Not only that, but the story might hit a major online news site and pretty soon you have thousands of people from all over the world commenting on your situation. |
Possible that he had underlying mental issues? Killing yourself over pending criminal charges seems extreme. Sad story.

For the latter, learning (or having compelling reason to believe) that their future is irrevocably fucked is about as devastating as it gets. L-Pink was right, a good lawyer could have convinced the kid that things weren't nearly as hopeless as he thought. |
Streaking and nudity have nothing to do with sex.
Sexual abuse also has nothing to do with sex; it has to do with violence. Keyword: abuse. Rape? Nothing sexual about it. It's pure violence. The misuse of the word sex is one of my most serious pet peeves. It's used to indicate the physical coupling of two consenting adults, the most heinous violence between an adult and a non-adult and even by people who can't be bothered to say or type "gender" where it's actually the more appropriate word. Language has it's uses and it's too bad we've decided it's just a quaint throwback kind of thing. |
