A Walter White and Jessie Pinkham shape hole has been left in many of our lives, the hit US show is one of the greatest shows ever produced, highly decorated and loved by millions. So what better way to celebrate and pay tribute to TV genius than to create a cocktail in homage to the hit show, so that?s just what Marks Bar of Soho have done. Loaded popped down to the swanky establishment that is housed within the highly respected and tasty ?Hix? restaurant to sample what the master ?cooks? at Marks Bar had rustled up.

We were ushered into the darkened and welcoming basement bar being warmly received by our two ?cooks,? Curley and James would be assuming the roles of Walter and Jessie preparing the ?blue sky? beverage. Sadly the true Walter White, Dustin MacMillan, (creator) wasn?t there to explain how he invented the drink but Curley was on hand to explain, ? the drink has a tequila base because tequila is a party drink with bad connotations,? Curley proffered, In fact two tequila?s form the base, the smokey ?Illegal Mezcal? and aptly the described crystal clear clean tasting ?Calle 23.? Add a couple of drops of lavender, a modicum of Mariscano to give a sour cherry ?mouth puckering? twist, some lime/sugar to sweeten it up, and a finally a few drops of Blue Caruso for the signature blue colouring. The Cocktail had been ?cooked? and was ready to serve, placed on a wooden board in a Pyrex beaker accompanied by a couple of coupette glasses and one final tribute , a small amount of blue crystal meth sherbet on the side for visual effect.

The taste was akin to a blue ?nuclear? tequila daiquiri, tequila is the key note which is smooth and smoky with the sugar offsetting the sour notes of cherry, the lime/lavender come together to leave you licking your lips and thirsty for more. A fitting tribute to an amazing programme, if you?re craving Breaking Bad and need a fix to make it through to the next cult programme comes along then head on down and sample the ?Heisenberg cocktail? for yourself.
