Which one of you fuckers was staying at the City Hotel Mátyás in Budapest during TES, hired a hooker, failed to pay her, only to have her return a few hours later to beat down your door and smack you around with a hammer?

I heard it all from the fifth floor, but didn't see who it was.

I don't know - I never saw her. I don't even know if this was connected to us, but being as our hotel was a secondary hotel for the show....

I saw that hooker going down the stairs and the guy who came to pick her up. She did not look like a woman actually,i thought she was a tranny... So hookers in Budapest are carrying hammers in their bags? :)

Ho many of you were approached by 2 girls lost in Budapest, looking for a bar? And since they were so nice and friendly, they asked you to join them for a glass of wine. After few rounds of drinks, bill is presented for 300 Euros or more depending on your look. Pay or the owner will close the door...until you pay. ATM is located conveniently inside the bar...Welcome to Budapest hospitality and scam bars ran by mafia. That did not happen? How about false subway inspectors extorting money, or false agents looking for drugs...guys selling Iphone 5 on every corner... Due to economic downturn, Budapest and Vaci street is full of scammers !!

Funny thing is, I'm gay. I just thought it was a couple friendly girls that were lost and asking directions. I told them where to go on my phone, then they told me they were tourists from Slovakia and wanted to try this local Hungarian drink called 'Palinka,' and if I'd like to go with them for 'one drink.' It all went downhill from there. :(

Yeah was pretty good up until then, but that definitely put a taint on the whole experience. Ah well, water under the bridge, at least I got out of there with my face in one piece.

Indeed, it's the lesson I learned, which I think will prove to be more valuable then the money I lost. It's a rough world we live in, but you got to take the shit, flush it down the toilet and live another day. I don't want this to stop me from being friendly to people or totally closed to new or random experiences, but this will certainly make me be a lot more alert and cautious. These girls were really smooth criminals though, I've travelled enough where I thought I knew every tourist scam...but it can happen to the best of us when traveling. :Oh crap

Hungary is a nice country... just keep away from main tourist spots since those are the places you can get scammed (same thing applies for many other countries in the world..)

Sorry, I should have said I was referring to the bar scam where they charge you a crazy amount, not the hooker.

happens in all toursity areas to drunk foreign men i think. heard of it happening in london and thailand, and pretty sure i almost got caught by two girls doing it to me in poland. i met someone also in poland who got hit by the scam, but didn't know it was a scam. after buying the first round ( like £150+ for 3 cocktails... everywhere else it would cost < £15/20 ), he ran out after 2nd round and was convinced he'd left these two poor girls with the bill... he said he felt bad for em lol.

Heyhey, please provide more details, I am happy to share this @ proper places in order to make scamming places/people stop. I am very upset because of your bad experience.. Yep same thing happen in Zagreb and Prague,basicly it is best to ignore anyone on street,even if they ask for help as it could be some scam behind it.Still,i remember funny scene from Prague where us 4 gfy-ers went to strip club,and before we went there some black man was bothering how we should go to his club,how they even got the girls but dude who was in our group said how that wont work beacuse he is gay,to which he replied how they can cover that as well lol.Still it makes me wonder what would happen if we actualy accepted that offer.
