Can anyone program html5 games?

Anyone out there with the know how to program some basic html5 games?

Example:

Take a hangman game, incorporate some graphical designs, code it in html5 (or whatever is latest) add some personalized features and make it live on a website.

Take a 5 card draw game, incorporate some graphical designs, code it in html5 (or whatever is latest) add some personalized features and make it live on a website.

When I say take... usually a starting point source code is open source. But you need to know what it is you are looking at and incorporate whatever it is you need to.

Green screen video integrationas well.

I'm fairly certain I am shooting blanks because I know everyone who claims to be able to do it already on this board. I'm hoping that the guy who logs in maybe 2 times per 5 years, knows how to make this happen, logs into gfy and sees this thread.

I'm not holding my breath so carry on ladies! :thumbsup

I know 100+ game programmers as part of my mainstream job, some doing html5 only, for ex: http://dseffects.com/games.php?pid=0
Why to ask GFY guys anyway? I would suggest you google for guys like dseffect and mail them asking if he can help (I assume not for free).

You know 100 programmers that do simple, fun type game programming?

Here is what I have found googling them:

Yes, we can do that. Price for *insert simple game here* is 20K. $20,000 for a simple game?? Also, I need many games over time.

So this dseffects.com is personal friends of yours? Used in the past?

It is disheartening to see these companies ask for such outlandish prices for something that they *do* start with open source on. And then of course they need to justify skin swaps with in-house (outsourced) designers to tack on a few more K.

I know some who do xbox/PS3 titles, down to those who do easy flash/html games. Well $20k is more a price for an iphone+android 3d game, not an html5 easy game, who you asked?
Since you talk of "outsourced", do that yourself and post jobs on one or more of:

freelancer.com
elance.com
odesk.com

But there you find lots of guys who say I can do all for cheap, just to get job, then they do not deliver as really think they will outsource themselves :)

just for the record: html5 is a markup language not a programming language...what you guys ask is impossible.
You can make a game using other technologies (flash, js, etc) ..and put it on a htm5 page but the html part is insignificant compared with that.

huh? Everyone with flash games is transferring the flash to formats which work with mobile... and it is referred to as html5 language. Is that not true and flash is still being used... if so, how do the games all of a sudden play on mobile devices?

HTML5 is the fifth major revision of the HTML standard, and it started to gain widespread adoption in 2011. It introduces many new features, but only a small number apply to games. However, "HTML5" is still the most appropriate way to describe the technology used for Construct 2's games. Javascript is the standard programming language used to program web pages, and this is also used to power Construct 2 games.

1. My Samsung phone plays flash (you just have to install that plugin for android).. apple phones don't play flash.
2. They use JS(or/and many other technologies)

So what is the question I need to be asking?

What programmers know simple games and can create them in JS (or other compatible formats for 2013) so they work on most phones as well as desktop?

madko 10-03-2013 01:42 AM

It's complicated. You want a phone game? (android or iphone app) or a browser game? I think your programmer needs to know JS.. but also may need other things .. to finish your product.
You need to know what you want before asking it. If you go to a programmer and throw words like html5 at him .. he will rub your money because he'll figure out you don't know whatever you are talking about.
your question should sound more like: "any programmer here able to do a browser app/game (or mobile) ?"
Beaner, i'm sorry if my comment seemed condescending, i don't want that. I think you wanna do a great thing. Don't bother with a simple technicality. Do your game and show it to us .. you'll get tons of shitty comments .. and maybe one or 2 good advice. Keep working on it!
