About 2 hrs away , and looks like the govt will be shutdown...
It looks like a shutdown is inevitable now ...
lets hope I am wrong.. |
Does it mean EBT cards will not get 1st of the month deposits?

republicans are such small minded loosers.
|
Even if it gets fixed tomorrow, the Republicans will have their little victory. They'll bring the votes when it comes back from the Senate one more time and pass the government and Obamacare funding.
Then they'll convince their redneck constituents they fought bravely to kill that big, bad Obamacare that's going to destroy their already pathetic lives with affordable healthcare. They're childish little bitches. |
Obamacare is a prechecked hidden cross sale
|
Does anyone know if there is anything in obamacare that will prevent emergency rooms from treating people that don't have insurance?
If not, what exactly is going to change, beyond the fact that the government now has another tax for the middleclass. |

They could shut down for good for all I care. You can bet the Senate and Congress wiill still be cashing their checks.

There are only two people who won't get paid. Some government works will have their offices closed so they won't be going into work and soldiers will not get paid. In both cases when the shutdown ends they will get paid for the shutdown days. |

One thing that will change, in theory, is that it looks like I will be able to buy better insurance than what I have now for about the same money. Mind you this is just me putting my info in the calculator and it telling me what the cost is going to be, but that cost is for what they consider a mid level policy which will be better than the catastrophic only policy I have now and it will, again in theory, only cost me about $30 per month more. |

The bronze plan is only available in certain states and only to people under 30 and it's a catastrophic only plan. I work at a small motorcycle shop. My wife works at a huge billion dollar medical device company as a temp. Neither of us make much money at our jobs. But that's the market where we live. Our insurance is $355 according to that same calculator. It's a $355 bill we can't afford. That's all there is to it in my house. I don't know what the answer is but I don't want it and can't afford it at this point. I'm sure I'm not the only one. |

2 words come to mind.
Butthurt cockholsters. But I could be underreacting. |

It all sounds very undemocratic to me - The Republicans seem to have decided to punish the voters for being stupid enough to vote for Obama...
I'm pretty sure that's not the way it is meant to work..... |

I was watching some idiot on FOX news showing a live feed of Seattle and Philly, and he said "it looks like the lights are still on, and everything is ok for now."
|
Some of us will lose money in the markets because of this bullshit. I know my 401k will get hammered.

But if we run dry on 10/17, Will that mean a treasury default? If nobody buys treasuries, Maybe the fed can continue buying all them up? |

In 1990 my state passed a ballot measure that put a cap on the amount of property taxes they could charge you. The cap was a percent, for example 5% of the value of your house, and it can't go up without a vote of the people. There have been a few votes, but they have failed. So, how do they get around it? They raise the value of your property. Property values in the little town I grew up in have gone through the roof. The house I grew up in was a single level 4 bedroom (the 4th bedroom was so small you would never use it for a bedroom). It wasn't very big, but it had a nice backyard with a creek behind it. My mom bought the house in 1983 for about $36K. She sold it in 1994 for about $40K (after my brother and I were grown and gone). Last year I happened to be out there and drove by it. I saw it was for sale. Out of curiosity I looked it up. They were now selling it for $235K. That is freaking ridiculous. |
Blue Cross in California raised their rates by 39% this year. I assume it is still in effect.
The feds as a whole are a criminal enterprise. Not surprised any of this is happening. |

Guys can you all start keeping a log of what websites you visit and who you email?
We will need to spy on ourselves for the next couple of weeks. Seriously, this sort of thing should be immediate reelection time. |
I think Universal Healthcare is a great thing, and everyone should be covered.
I dont think Obamacare is the right plan for this country however. It's really hard to not be cynical in this country. |

The only "compromise" I've seen is delaying obamacare another year which obviously isn't going to happen. Going to be fun when we are still shutdown and hit that debt limit and default

Did anyone else catch Google's passive aggressive remark on the government shutdown? The Google logo today is to celebrate Yosemite National Park's 123rd anniversary, which is closed due to the shutdown :1orglaugh

I won't do anything until you shut down your factory, now compromise with me.
|
Compromise? Good to see the righties have latched onto the latest keyword. Shows their complete lack of understanding on how the system works.
There is NOTHING to compromise. This is like your wife refusing to buy food for the kids because she didnt like the way her hair stylist did her hair. Republicans have tried to repeal Obamacare 43 times unsuccessfully, so like little babies they would rather bring the country down than face the reality they lost the fucking election. They will not be happy until the whole country is in a fucking depression so they can blame it on Obama. |

I would take comfort in the fact that some of these old white shitstains will die in the next few years, but there's some young shitstains waiting in the wings. They're actually more of the problem, because I think the older guys may be trying to talk some sense into them....but they're anarchists who can't be reasoned with. |
