Help Save the M1 Garand

Well, this isn't a business thread, but it is a freedom thread, hopefully you won't mind...

Please sign this petition to RETRACT the executive order against the re-importation of U.S. military firearms: http://wh.gov/l4aHl

This petition is for the retraction of the Executive Action, announced 08/29/2013, which would prohibit the re-importation of former U.S. military firearms for sale to U.S. citizens. The primary firearms that this would impact are the U.S. M1 Garand and Carbine rifles, prized by collectors, competitive sports shooters, and "plinkers" who are interested in U.S. military history. These are NOT the type of firearms that have been associated with crimes. This Executive Action will solve no firearms-related problems, is political grandstanding at its worst, and only serves to discriminate against legitimate firearms collectors.

We need a last minute push to get this over the top :thumbsup

I would certainly back you on this..... but the reality is that this kind of petition will do absolutely nothing. You are better off getting into a campaign to contact your senators and your congressman by phone and email. They will pay more attention then some random internet petition that they will never see....

The petition is at Whitehouse.gov and Obama (staff at least) gets the results directly.

This is an Executive Order and as such, no Congressional involvement, which is what makes it so bad.

There's 80,000 M1 Garands waiting to come back from S. Korea, and Obama just said "no"

So far all of Obama's gun control crap has been highly beneficial to gun manufacturers, record sales and price increases across the board, I think this executive order is the final proof that they are working together, 80,000 used guns made available to civilians wont help new rifle sales one bit, and who knows how many more are out there that could be returned for domestic sale.

I am sure those defense contractors would rather sell you a new one.
