A common drug that dermatologists prescribe to treat nail fungus appears to come with a not-so-tiny side effect: eradicating HIV.

In a study performed at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, not only does the drug Ciclopirox completely eradicate infectious HIV from cell cultures, but unlike today's most cutting-edge antiviral treatments, the virus doesn't bounce back when the drug is withheld. This means it may not require a lifetime of use to keep HIV at bay.

I heard that regular old bleach kills the virus. Maybe just a rumor??

you can eradicate a lot of cell cultures with other creams probably.
If anyone can put it in a pill it probably won't be any more toxic than AZT, and the rest of the HIV drugs are today.

Never mind that there is a question of whether HIV retrovirus has actually been isolated so to some specialists out there they might not be actually smearing cream on an HIV virus in a petri dish

Apparently if you flame torch the virus it also does not bounce back....

Another friend told me that if you detonate a grenade on it then also it does not come back - just food for thought.

If you read careful, it makes cells to suicide. So it's not same as flaming them or doing acid treatment on them. Second they can probably try to make something people can take as medicament now, and 3rd makes cell are not attacked by virus again, and this is also very important. So it looks more complex than you present with flame and acid killing...
