Dedicated Server I Don't Really Use

I've got two servers, one of which I rarely use and basically sits there with a few small project sites I have setup on it. I don't want to move them to the other box because there I have all my adult sites hosted.

So, should I

a) create a bunch of smaller accounts for $5/10 per month
b) find someone to split the server with
c) dump it and just move everything to the adult server

my only concern is when I was doing things before, someone found my consulting site was also listed with adult sites and called me out. from what I lost on that deal along isn't worth combining them together... unless I can setup split DNS records for the same server?

Its old I know, but cheap, here are the stats:

24/7 Managed
P4 3.0 GHz Processer
2GB RAM
2x 160GB HDD
CentOS 5.x OS
cPanel
1200 GB Bandwidth
100 Mbps Uplink
8IPs

DNS is by domain not by IP.

If you're worried about someone noticing that some sites have the same IP as some other sites , either claim its a "shared" host or possibly get your host to give you a second IP to host those mainstream sites on.

Depending on traffic though, why dont you just take a $5 - $10 package with hostgator or something and host 'em there.

Don't use certified hosting though, they are unprofessional pricks.

As bigluv said, grab yourself a cheap shared account if they are small projects.

Otherwise develop a couple of sites that generate enough revenue to pay for that server (this is what i've done for my 2nd box as it is much the same as yours - hardly used but want to keep it separate.

Just had a HORRIBLE experience with Hostgator :mad::mad:

I'm sure there are others, but I think I'm leaning this route.

Only problem is I have so much custom configured crap with PHP for different scripts, it wouldn't move over easy. I already tried and everything broke.

Really, you should shut up.

I would just find cheap cloud hosting, and move your non-adult crap to that, it's bound to be $5-10 a month. Or you might be able to get away with asking the host to give you new ip block of 3-4 ips and host nonadult on those on the adult box. I don't believe they can trace back that way, but you never know.

I try to avoid doing business with people who are anti adult websites. but that's just me personally.

thumbuilderic 09-25-2013 05:32 PM

I'd just ditch and setup a system in AWS.

Panty Snatcher 09-25-2013 05:50 PM

too much trouble for a few extra $

sandman! 09-25-2013 06:42 PM

a decent shared hosting account should work for you.

ErectMedia 09-25-2013 08:57 PM

Keep the server for the adult shit and move the mainstream to a reseller or vps account :2 cents:

The Duck 09-26-2013 06:08 AM

Just scrap it and move your shit to the adult server.
