I wonder how many people actually buy them at that price, knowing in probably a year or two they will probably cost closer to $5K.

2MuchMark 09-24-2013 08:05 AM

Wow nice TV! But like all other 4K TV's the prices will plummet into reality in about a year or so...

If you have the money, why would you want to wait two years to maybe get it cheaper when you can have it now and enjoy it? You can always wait for something to be cheaper, but you pull the trigger when it's at the price threshold of you not caring.

It's just that most items don't lose value as quickly as these tvs do. I'm not talking depreciation, but the selling price of brand new items. It would be the equivalent of paying $1,300,000 for a Bugatti Veyron now, or having the option of waiting a year and a half and getting a brand new one with equivalent or better performance for $260,000.

Just seems like you'd have to be, for lack of a better term, nigga rich to spend your money so foolishly, although I guess when you have that much money it probably doesn't matter. A $40,000 TV just seems to me like something a redneck that won the lottery would spend money on.

Geez, that's huge!

I think Aquos has a 90" one too, but just a lame tv, no cool features :1orglaugh

40k for a television is ridiculous

PR_Glen 09-24-2013 09:13 AM

I guess i'm the only one who's house isn't big enough to warrant such a ridiculously sized tv... hehe

bronco67 09-24-2013 09:21 AM

Most HD TV broadcasts are in 1080i, and DVD is only 1080p. When will we be having 4k content to watch on these TVs? Don't hold your breath on that one.

Wouldn't that size be too small to make 4k noticeable?

With the layout of my livingroom, anything bigger than a 50" ends up looking ridiculous...

Zeiss 09-24-2013 09:44 AM

Oh! That's big!!

Up rez is not 4k.

But if they started making true 4k blu rays, I'd be on board quickly.

talking about 4k, GO Pro is going to be the 1st consumer camera at 4k with 30fps apparently coming out by the end of the year. Now that's freaking impressive. I guess it will carry an A9 processor for that to happen.

I'm hoping for some high frame frame rate options for some super slo-mo.

that's FA! (fucking amazing)

L-Pink 09-24-2013 02:09 PM

I think you should have to watch reality shows on 19" b/w's.

edgeprod 09-24-2013 04:01 PM

We have the 80" one from Sharp, it was only $6k at the time -- $39k seems ridiculous for 5" more.

If you're a baller, you have this instead:

freecartoonporn 09-24-2013 06:52 PM

have you checked sony's 4k, its not that expensive i guess.,
but damn 40k for tv , not my deal.
