Parents sue owner of house their kids trashed.

http://thenypost.files.wordpress.com...ge22.jpg?w=840

Okay... so a bunch of kids break into HIS house, party like idiots and destroy over $20,000 of his property and the parents are mad at him for outing them on twitter while he tried to track these perps down? Seriously? "Oh this will ruin their chances at college..." No, THEIR behavior does. I'd press charges against all of them, and sue the parents for damages.

Quote:

The former New England Patriots offensive lineman learned of the debauched bash ? attended by some 200-300 trespassers ? after many of the punks gleefully posted photos and texts on social media from inside the out-of-control crash party that left 10 shattered windows, urine-soaked carpets, gouged oak floors and walls covered in graffiti and holes.

Holloway estimates the damage at more than $20,000 and took to social media to try to track down the vandals so they could be held responsible.

A handful of parents have apologized for their kids? actions ? saying they hadn?t known about the party or that their kids lied to them, he said.

But only one parent and child showed up this week at a planned cleanup of the stately Stephentown home, about 25 miles from Albany and near the Massachusetts border.
Holloway said he has hauled away more than 10 massive trash bags of liquor bottles, and found drug paraphernalia strewn across his property.

?How is this OK? How did we lose our way, that this is acceptable behavior? And how do we find our way back?? said Holloway, who had to delay last week?s planned launch of his new women?s-oriented football site, HerLeague.net, to fly to New York and deal with the mess and an ongoing police probe.

The drama started on Aug. 31, when Holloway ? home with his wife and kids at their year-round Lutz, Fla., home ? learned from his 19-year-old son that dozens of kids were tweeting about a party at the New York country house.

Holloway watched in disbelief as the scene unfolded on Twitter. The revelers came from at least nine surrounding high schools and a local college.

?They had planned to stay there for three full days, if you can believe that,? Holloway said.

He was trying to reach local cops when someone tweeted that sheriff?s officers were on the scene.

?The sheriff came and got everyone out of the house without injury or violence, which is impressive with the amount of drinking and drugs going down and kids in a very dangerous state of mind,? Holloway said.

Holloway, who found ?170 tweets from the party within its first three hours,? re-posted them to a Web site to help identify the house crashers and urge them to change their behavior.

The Rensselaer County Sheriff?s Office confirmed that the bash was under investigation.

?My intention is to help set them on a better path,? Holloway said of the public posting.
No arrests have yet been made.

Holloway is planning a picnic for military personnel and their families Saturday at the upstate property.

?I want the scar of this haremoved,? he said.

If I got caught doing something like this at that age my parents would have kicked my ass, and then sent me to that homeowner in indentured servitude to fix the damages.

After the damage had been repaired my parents would have killed me.

The courts are better then you think. Once he gets to the core people, they will get a suspended sentence if they pay restitution. So he gets money and they get off without a serious record as it was a stupid thing but not really criminal intent or violent.

Oh, so burglary, trespassing, vandalism, destruction of property and theft are not crimes?

:1orglaugh

Add making terrorist threats also :
Quote:

?You would not believe the calls that have come in, threatening to firebomb me or hurt or sue me ? any manner of things,? the stunned Holloway told The Post Thursday
Seriously, the more I look at the damage and how it was done, it looks more and more like a hate crime committed by a mob.

Actually it was breaking and entering, trespassing, vandalism, destruction of personal property, and a few other...someone bought the alcohol and someone provided it to the underage drinks, did they find evidence of drug use...probably as well.

There need to be some arrests and criminal convictions in this case. Period

They committed a long list of crimes and they absolutely should be punished, kids are not. In fact it's the perfect time to punish them, hopefully they won't grow up and be total shit stains of the Earth, and even worse, breed.

real story here is the guy has not lived in his house in over a year because the bank is about to take it. There was nothing in the house long before the kids started having parties in it. This was the 5th or 6th party and a lot of the damage was already done on the old rotting house. The owner is taking donations with paypal to fix his house and pay the bank so he can try to save it now. Yeah the kids were in the wrong but he is doing his best to make it like he is homeless now when he is living in Florida enjoying the beach LOL

Protip: "threaten to sue" is different than "are suing".

But of course, if you use the first as a headline it won't have the same "OMFGWTF *click*" factor.

The house next to me has been empty for 7 years and nobody has touched it.

Brian Holloway's Help Me Save 300 website:

http://helpmesave300.com/

Quote:

Holloway?s helpers: nearly 80 volunteers arrive to help former NFL player repair damage caused by b&e partiers

In news-of-the-crazy, parents of teens who trashed the house of former NFL player Brian Holloway want to sue Holloway because he posted pictures & names on his website of the teens who broke into, partied in, and damaged his house ? pictures he was only able to obtain because the teens intelligently made them available on social media (accompanied by such comments as, ?518 was the place to be. Busted or not, #fuckinglegit,? and ?Fuxking cleared a porch and a kid who [nice use of "who," Amanda Briell!] broke through a screen got my way to Cumbys and got away from the trooper there too!?).

Holloway, at his home in Florida at the time, learned of the party from his son, Brian Holloway Jr., 18, who was also in Florida where he was attending school. He received links to some of the pictures from a friend.

?Luckily I do have a handful of true friends. They were saying, ?This is your house, and they?re on your table.? From then on, I was on Twitter just following everything that was going on,? he said.

Holloway Jr. said only a few people were aware of the schedule he and his father kept as they bounced back and forth between their home in Florida and their home at the foot of the Berkshires in Stephentown, NY.

?A few of my friends I thought I could trust,? he said. ?I guess not.?

He said he?s since received a few anonymous apology emails, but that more of them have been negative. One accused him of knowing about the party beforehand, and another insisted a broken item ?was already broken.? Holloway Jr. called the whole thing ?crazy.?

Holloway Sr. issued an online invitation for the partiers to return to his house with permission Tuesday, Sept. 17 to clean up their mess and repair their damages. He created the website ?HelpMeSave300.com,? where in a sidebar he emphasizes the value of hard work and discipline.

He adds, ? It?s been quite a gut shot dealing with all of this. I guess I?m still in shock. But I want to put aside the very strong emotions I?m feeling and focus on the one thing that is extremely clear the lives of these 300 students.

I want them to live. I?ve seen too many young people die because of excessing partying, drugs and alcohol. [...] I believe that ?their ultimate party? of crimes can in fact become the ultimate Turning Point in the lives of these 300.
I really do. ?

One set of parents arrived on the 17th with their child.

He offered the 300 a second chance on Saturday, Sept. 21, with the following added to a new invitation on his website:

?Note To The 300: Please help! Come out and help set up, fix up, bring food, and picnic stuff. I?m here. Come now. Take a stand for your future. This is called redemption.?

Only four of the partiers came this time, Holloway Jr. said.

Restoring faith in humanity were the 80-something volunteers, some of them neighbors and some from as far away as Boston who saw the story on the news, who arrived at Holloway?s house Saturday to help him paint, clean, repair damaged furniture, and in one case strip a wood floor where the carpet had to be removed because one of the teenagers had urinated on it.

People brought so much food ? pizza, cookies, brownies, cheese & crackers, casserole ? that most of it sat uneaten on the outdoor picnic table.

?I knew this would happen,? Holloway said. ?Again it sends another big statement out to the press. Of all the kids, there were two or three that showed up, which is another indication. I gave you three chances, right? But a testament to this community is look at how many incredible people came out just for support.?

If he wasn't in the NFL 3 people would have shown up.

Dead 09-23-2013 05:36 PM

Showing up for the "clean up" would be admitting guilt for the ones involved, any good lawyer would strongly advise against.

he got the photos from social media acc to an article I read... so how concerned were the kids about getting caught, getting into college, about future jobs, etc., if they splattered their own brag pics and text msg screen shots all over publicly accessible social media?

Common sense is dead. Dont you guys have records that disappear for minors ? or is the states under the dilution that kids are smart ?

candyflip 09-27-2013 08:16 AM

I was in a house that got trashed like that during a party on New Years. I was just out of High School. The main person doing the trashing was the girl who's parents owned the house, which is why I'm sure nothing ever came of it.

The amount of over the top trashing that happened still blows my mind. My kids will never be left home alone because of this. :1orglaugh

I should add that there was no physical damage done to the house. But 200 pounds of birdseed all over the house isn't much better.

Broken windows and broken glass doors sort of seem like physical damage.

In Court, Prior Stuff doesn't matter, it is ONLY what happened during that party.

The house could be for sale for YEARS and Be worth hundreds of thousands.

Guess who still has to pay the Bill when the bank takes it? The OWNER.

He also has to pay for the damages.

Just because someone else had a party and didn't get caught, is no excuse to get off.

WOW, I can't believe you said this.

Who cares how the owner is playing it off... Have you seen professional sports these days?

The Judge is to look at the Facts, and decide. The rest is for the news and donations.. Yep even the crippled kids play shit up to get more money some times...
