Kenya Mall Attack - What up with their Guns?
 

Looking at photos from that crazy attack in Kenya. I noticed the guns they are using to fight the attackers vary. Most of them are armed it Ak-47s a few have some MP5s and a lot of handguns from what looked like average citizens or maybe off duty cops.

But what stuck out was this pic with a dude holding what looked like a SCAR! I guess those dudes are the "special forces" of the Kenyan military.

I've never owner or shot a SCAR so I don't know how effective they are, but I do know they are expensive as fuck.

Crazy situation out there. I feel for all of the innocent people that got caught up in all this.

Good eye! That is surprising that they are using them. I wonder if it's the 223 or 308 version. Our special forces have only been using them for about 3 years now as its a relatively new gun. All the reviews I have read on the SCAR-H (308) have been positive but I have not shot one either. The recoil is supposed to be very tame.

I fired a full auto HK Mp5(Navy version fixed stock) in Vegas. Fun.

That G3 is looks like a stretched version of the submachine gun.

I do pretty well with the SCAR in COD so they have my approval in using it.

How do these fuckers have so many pictures from RIGHT within the action... is that really necessary? Or just a stupid distraction from getting the hostages to safety and supporting sensationalism...

Its wartime photojournalism and, in my view, more valid than most of the 'news' presented to us in broadcast or print.

Thank F!*K that siege is all over. I've spent many an afternoon in that mall. There are security checks with every car and every person entering Westgate and every cop in there is heavily armed. Unfortunately the cops are also VERY corruptible so wouldn't be hard to sneak stuff in.

Might be cool if the cops start murdering people themselves and we had the pics to convict them huh?

Besides, it's not like someone only had 5 minutes to take the pics; it lasted 4 days.
