Bing and Yahoo over the past month or two.. anyone notice anything?

Looking at our stats the past few weeks I noticed an increase in traffic..

The past 1-2 months about a quarter of our sites (250+/-) have seen an increase in Bing and Yahoo traffic.. on average at least double or triple the norm.. and some by as much as a 700% increase.. (with some sites getting way more from bing and yahoo than google).

has anyone else noticed increases from them?

Yup, quite a few, in fact.

The funny thing is on most of the sites with the increases i haven't really changed anything.. and it's also odd that it appears to be both Bing and Yahoo.. not one or the other..

I can't figure out why there is an increase.. Wondering if people who search for porn are switching? lmfao.. or if they both changed something at the same time...

IIRC Yahoo use Bing's search backend, so you're getting effectively identical SERPs referrals from two different domains.

Well that would help explain in part why both increased at the same time lol..

I remember years ago they used to use Google as their backend but then went on their own.. obviously i am not up to date on the latest info on Yahoo.. lol. probably because with all of the focus on Google I haven't really treated them as a major source of traffic for a long time.

I like Bing and Yahoo

It seems like with the irrelevant results on many searches and heavy ads push Google is playing themselves out, everybody is using Yahoo and Bing now.

Didn't iOS7 also switch to Bing search?
