    Is My Mac Being Hacked?

I got an error message after starting my Mackbook that someone else on the network is sharing the same IP address. I'm the only computer on my own personal wifi network does that mean someone has hacked and masked my IP address?

Could be just an error. What type of router do you have? You can type the routers ip address in your address bar to see if anybody else is attached. Is your router password protected with a very good password?

No, not being hacked. Lots of people using Snow Leopard also have this problem and can be caused by many things.

First, try to go to system preferences> network> advanced> tc/ip and click "Renew DCHP Lease"

If same problem, try taking out an airport express or other wds style devices to see if that's messing it up.

Let me know if either of those work.

You realize that publicly lying about a powerful company like that can land you in some serious trouble? I would tread lightly. Apple products do not fail. Piriod.

When I got my first iPhone, I went through three of them within the first month before I got a working unit. It was all my fault though, I kept trying to turn the damn thing on! If I would have just let it sit on the desk and not use it, all would have been fine.

That's true. I guess I was thinking that all of the tech support agents that I trained were fixing Apple tech problems, but in reality were just fixing mistakes made by Apple users..

Those rare hardware failures that we had the customer send to us so that we could research/document and fix the issues must have been dropped by the customers, too, without showing physical damage. ;)

Edit: I'm offended that you 'Piriod'ed me..
