photographers & stuff...
eh, just wanted an equipment opinion.
looking to buy a new digital, but don't need anything like the D1X, looking at the coolpix 5000 & 5700. i'm leaning towards the 5700, just wondering if anyone had experience with these. looking for pretty flexibility and control for more creative environments (yet keeping a small all-in-one package for traveling and all). danke. |
The 5700 looks really sweet - I just spent seme time on the Nikon website checking it out. Although - I'm not sure how "small" it is. It looks almost the size of the D100 - but it's hard to tell from the pics that they have on the site. If your looking for something smaller - you might try the 4300. I'm looking at that one myself :winkwink:
I shoot my content with the D100 but want something smaller just to shoot "snaps" with. But I want something that I can have some control over - Let us know what you end up using - Dean* http://crew.oliver-klozov.com/dean/jessica.jpg |
i looked into the 4300.. as for size and all, that unit rocks. however, the 5700 are relatively small. bigger of course than the 4300, but more like a 5000 with a bigger zoom lens and a nice color through-the-lens veiwfinder. should have fairly decent control and 8x zoom (which is optical, i believe). it's nowhere near the size of a d100, esp. with a lens attached.
actually, i haven't played with a d100, but basing it off of the n80 and the f100. i believe the d100 uses an n80 body, correct? i used to have an f100... that camera fucking ROCKED. i had to sell it a couple years back to pay some bills. i think i'm going to pick up another, after i get a new digital. sold my last digital, 'cause i wanted a new one. that thing was so awesome, and so not plastic. put my sb28 on that thing... and the pictures were amazing. did an awesome shoot at night at a swimming pool and got some amazing pics. but, went through 6 million batteries in the process :) |

What F stop was that picture taken at? Great depth of field. |
Canon Powershot G2 or G3. Fuck the Nikon's. If it is not a high end Nikon then the Canon is a better camera.

We are not talking about SLR's. The Canon is the best. Search the GFY archives and see the results from those who use them. |

I'll always take an SLR over a point and shoot hands down, again, my two cents. :thumbsup |

For me, I see a lot of yellow/green skin tones with my Nikon. But, I've developed a couple of Photoshop Actions that I use on all of my images to take some of that shit out. I wonder if I would be happier with skin tones from the D60 then the D100. Thoughts??? Dean* |

While I recently bought a Nikon D100, I shot for three years using the Olympus C-xxxx cameras. In fact, I still have a C-3040 and C-4040 and they are very good cameras. With the FL40 flash, you can do fill and bounce that will fool a lot of people into thinking you have studio flashheads and diffusers.

The Nikon 5700 is a fantastic camera. I've seen nothing but great reviews on it. Its Pro level in a more compact size so its a good traveler.

I've seen some pretty impressive shots come out of the Canons, but generally not the G-series. I haven't seen anything out of the G3 though so I can't really speak on it. :)

Fuji Finepix S2? That's what the Wanton Girls stuff is shot with.
I never see anybody else talking it up, almost everybody I talk to uses the Nikon D100. |
