A 100-vehicle pile-up on the New Sheppey Crossing Bridge has left hundreds of people injured in a crash witnesses described as "mayhem".

Chief Inspector Andy Reeves, from Kent Police, said it was "truly miraculous" that no one died in the crash at around 7.15am, .

"From my perspective, it's truly miraculous. It's very fortunate," he said.

A Kent Police spokeswoman said visibility was a problem at the time, and witnesses say there was "very, very thick" early morning fog hovering over the bridge.

There are reports of some motorists driving "like idiots" in the conditions before the crash that closed the A249.

Sheerness docks has about 9000 cars a week through it so potentially quite a few transporters.

You will notice that this accident happened "around 7:15 am" which proves my theory that nothing good can ever happen before 10:00 am which is why I never get out of bed before noon just to be on the safe side!

Huh, imagine that.

And it was where you say? I guess Winnipeg doesn't have the market cornered on this.

With the way people drive on the freeway I can see this happening... Too fast and too close together - one problem and everyone runs into each other.

RyuLion 09-10-2013 04:17 PM

Yeap, I believe that..

bluebook18 09-10-2013 04:53 PM
