you are right the domain is not everything and doesnt make a site.. but it matters for a few reasons seo , being short and easy, being the top domain in a niche ie smokingfetish.com over iiiilovesmokingsluts.com
.... and besides if you are spending 2k per shoot whats a few hundred on getting a short memorable domain or perhaps a top name like smokingfetish.com

Just let them expire. I got all horny and possesive over a shitload of "good" domain names and I finally just said fuck it. They are still available at DirectNic if you want them.

I have let well over 100 domain names expire. Some of them had traffic and made (a little bit of) of money. Not enough money to concern myself over, though, and every single one I have checked is STILL for sale at DirectNic. Shitty nickle and dime domains - like yours - that only add to the stress.

Domain names are close to worthless now unless you own... Well, you don't. Don't even worry about it.

Just let them go.
