XP - turning off pic/folder preview?

I've got a computer running xp & when i open a folder containing a tgp...or an avs...it shows the files inside the folder as a preview on the folder, anyways...this is causing explorer to crash.
So i want to turn off all picture/folder previews, but i've got no clue as to how to do it..... Can anyone help a brutha out? XP is such a shit-pile :1orglaugh |

Yeah man that sucks, anyway to fix that you should set at least one folder to display 'details', then you go to extra / folder settings, then display, and then there is this option to set the display of each folder to the current one.

It amazes me how mnay litle issues liek this XP has. Yet I've never had any of these issues (knock on wood). In fact, folder/thumb preview doesn't slow me down at all. Guess maybe it's teh fact I have a real cpu and not an intel? heheh

ps since other xp'ers are in here, how do i disable windows messenger? haha.
	 |

The only real issue I have with xp is office xp. If i go to open a file and if I click on a file and wait too long it shows a preview of the file in the open dialogue, and if i click another file and preview doesnt have enough time to update before I click ok the application shuts down and restarts. But that's more of an office xp issue.

when you get that thumbnail previewer let me know, i'll hit you up for a partner account. :winkwink:

you need a previewer for windows? Irfanview is great I find for going through images. bit it lacks thumb preview, There is one ive used before tho that rocked called Image Walker It has thumbnail preview. It's pretty slick

I don't think a sound computer with 1+ghz computers and 512mb_+ ram should be having those issues. I don't have any performance problems or explorer crashes with any of that eye candy stuff on.
My only problem has been sometimes larger files take a while for you to delete without getting permission denied in use errors. As far as the messenger thing I think you can uncheck it from the startup by typing msconfig in the run menu. BUT I thought it was a required part to use outlook express and if you get rid of it, it wants you to reinstall. Could be wrong, I forgot, but I bet a google search would let you know pretty quick whats up. |
