I'm so depressed! :(

I'm so depressed!

I crashed my Parrot AR Drone 2.0. After having a perfect flight at almost 120 feet in the air in got caught in a tree on the way down. After rocking the propellers back and fourth it separated from its hull and crashed, breaking one of the prop "legs". The hull is still in a tree.

My favourite toy... busted!

SilentKnight 08-28-2013 07:36 PM

That's a deja vous to one of my early flights with the Parrot drone. But thankfully we fished it outta the tree without damage.

What's the law on "accidentally" shooting one down that's over your property? Just curious.

the same as shooting down anything else flying over your property. you dont own any airspace in america.

L-Pink 08-28-2013 08:25 PM

Seriously, anyone know what the property rights of land owners are? Anyone see this come up yet? I'm not talking in the city but over a farm, disturbing livestock. Recording naked g/f by the pool that kind of situation.

Could be some serious invasion of privacy issues ?..

you dont own ANY airspace in america. aircraft are not trespassing when flying over your place as the laws are now written.

the standard rule is 500ft from person, animal, structure or vehicle in a rural area or 1000ft in a populated area (except for takeoff or landing) but this gets busted all the time, just watch police and news helicopters

Thanks. Are there equal laws about flying drones with cameras over private property? Nude pools? Spying on businesses, Etc …

as the laws are written now drones are considered the same as all other aircraft

http://www.ilga.gov/commission/jcar/...40D04100R.html

we have researched this a lot for our new website coming out soon

Seth Manson 08-28-2013 08:46 PM

this is what happens when drone pilots are irresponsible and why the FAA is strict on the subject

TurboAngel 08-28-2013 08:48 PM

My friends husband has a bunch of those not sure if they are the same but her neighbor calls the cops every time he tries to fly them

Here's my backyard in Ky, I can see some asshole kids from neighboring subdivisions fucking with my neighbors horses or my g/f nude on the deck. Or for that matter what a way to check out houses or businesses to burglarize and monitor for any police response while accomplices are inside.

The abuses anyone with a thousand bucks can preform are suddenly unlimited.

The things aren't very reliable. I'm not comfortable with mine on my own property of 8 acres, nevermind trying to fly it over my neighbours pool.

Holy shit! Is that really yours? Really cool...

Juts one question though - is it legal? How can it fly so high and be legal? Aren't you afraid of having a plane hit it? What if it gets sucked into a Jet of a 737? I didn't know hobby drones could fly that high. How long does the charge last?

I think i need clearance for 3000ft and i don't fly any ware near an airport and normally not that high i should check thow.
Battery lasts 13min on a hover about 20ft off the ground with a 3s 5000mah battery as a test i did but if i flew it around or higher the battery would last around 8-9min.

I liked flying it with my iPad. Super easy to use, graphics overlay onto live video, programmable flights with gps and waypoints...

Not sure where I heard this or if its true or not but apparently there's a school in the south that teaches people how to shoot drones down. Illegal, but ....

Too bad. You should tell your idiot neighbour that this is a legal hobby and to get a life. When I was a kid I used to have a CB radio and our idiot neighbour used to call the cops anytime I used it (Apparently he could tune me in on his AM radio and thought I had some illegal amps going or some shit).
