I'm ordering a new flat panel today, which one should I get?

So far I like the Dell E171FP 17", it's only $450

Is there a better flat panel around this price?

Dirty F 02-28-2003 11:06 AM

I got the dell 20 inch, bit more expensive but certainly worth it.

This may seem like a joke to some of you, but check out the page. Killer displays.

gothweb 02-28-2003 11:41 AM

Even my 17" Apple is pretty amazing. I have seen the old 22", and those things are just huge... The 23" looks amazing.

logic00 02-28-2003 11:44 AM

ViewSonic by far is one of the best I had that Dell last month it is absolutely horrible DO NOT GET IT. Try View Panel (ViewSonic) VPA models they are great and have dual view capability. You can turn it the long way and your screen will flip the same way.

Apple by far has the coolest monitors on the market hands down.

I would buy <a href="http://www.tomshardware.com/display/20030109/index.html">this one</a>

damac 02-28-2003 12:06 PM

I wouldn't touch those latest hitachis. Look at that review posted, and anandtechs as well. It seems to catch up a bit in the gaming deparment as far as response time goes, but there are better quality pictures out their, and I assume most around here will use it mostly for surfing, design, etc.

Nice monitor, I just read about it and found this funny:

"One swallow doesn't make a summer"

Now there's a phrase I've never seen a hardware article start with, lol

Thanks logic00!

I think I'm gonna order the 18". From what I've seen shopping around this morning that's the best deal. Good monitors too, all the guys in our office have the 19"s and 20"s.

Me too. It's great. There's lots of brand new, factory-sealed ones on eBay going for around $450-480.

Overpriced. Don't like the big opaque frames either.

AdultNex 02-28-2003 02:21 PM

The Apple displays are nice, if you can afford them.

Other than that, I'd recommend getting the Dell (rebranded) 1800FP or 2000FP.

:thumbsup
